日本の大災害は、 - 彼らはすぐに終了してみましょう! Nihon no dai saigai wa, - karera wa sugu ni shūryō shite mimashou!

Image
The Japanese people have suffered two massive earthquakes in a matter of several hours, resulting in several deaths, hundreds of injuries and massive destruction of property and infrastructure. Fortunately, the information suggest that no damage has been done the only nuclear power station in the affected prefecture, which also happens to be the only nuclear power station operating in Japan. Some people might ponder what the Japanese have done to 'deserve' or become the subject of so many large-scale disasters in in a matter of only a few years. The answer, of course, is that the Japanese have not done anything and have not 'sinned' to cause them to be treated so harshly by fate and misfortune. It appears that these massive disasters are linked to how the islands which have come to be known as the Japanese Islands, were originally formed, as a result of volcanic eruptions. Apparently, the Pacific Plate is being steadily drawn under the Continental Plate, giving

WHAT BRITISH MUSLIMS REALLY THINK - RESPONDING TO THE CHALLENGE.

Image
Might not be able to see the trees for the wood, but the prudent person should use their prudence and knowledge and experience to hypothesise what they are likely to find ahead. In the two previous parts of this post, I have cited some of the major concerns arising from Channel 4's documentary - WBMRT, which include things like an greater tendency to sympathise with violence by extremist, more tolerance towards Sharia laws being practised in parts of Britain, the stoning of adulturers, and so on. In this the final part of this post, I am putting forward my views of how I believe the British government, and people, including British Muslims, need to respond to the challenge which orthodox Islam, as opposed to a 'locally grown' reformed version, poses to the country's future stability and security.   Essentially, I have argued that British Muslims and the Muslims living in the west need to devise their own, effectively, independent and reformed version of Islam, as

WHAT BRITISH MUSLIMS THINK - RESPONDING TO THE CHALLENGE!

Image
It really is the case that Britain, probably largely as a result of her historically liberal tendencies, and her colonial heritage, which includes her having colonised people of many ethnic and national origins, has been a very tolerant country towards immigrants from diverse places, such as Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia. Probably more than any other European country, Britain has been comparatively tolerant of immigrants from her former colonies coming into the country and bringing and practicing their religious, cultural and linguistic heritage. As such, it has been common to find Mosque, Sikh Gurdwaras, Hindu Temples, Synagogues, et al, all over Britain where there are sizeable numbers of people of the relevant faiths. At the same time, as is normal with any immigrant populations, Britain’s immigrant populations have tended to ‘stick together.’   Although this is undoubtedly something which the British would also have done when they were busy invading and colonising mu

WHAT BRITISH MUSLIMS THINK - THREAT OF THE 100K?

Image
Last night Channel 4, a British TV channel, showed a documentary called, What British Muslims Think. The documentary was meant to shock the British public and their political and other leaders to take action to defend this secular country against what the analysis of the documentary perceives to be a grave threat to Britain's secular and liberal values.  It is the kind of documentary which is certain to cause some observers on the left of the political spectrum to be concerned that it could fuel Islamophobic sentiments in Britain, as well as giving more momentum to the government to pursue what some would consider to be ill-liberal policies to rein in Islam in Britain.  For those on the right of the political spectrum, the findings and analysis of WBMT might be perceived as simply more evidence of what they have been saying all along; that Islam represents an imminent and major threat to British society, and is not compatible with the country's Christian and liberal herita

IS THE WORLD GOING MADDER?

Image
Some difficulty seeing the way ahead T here is, as the saying goes, some crazy shit going on in the world today.  There is controversy about things like money laundering, the rich and the powerful setting up offshore companies to avoid paying any or the high rates of taxes they would have to pay if they set up these companies in their normal places of domicile, and controversy about whether Britain should or should not leave the European Union. There is controversy about who is fit to become the next President of the United States, what to do about the hundreds of thousands of refugees and migrants in transit in Europe, what to do to boost the world's sluggish economy, and talks about making peace in Syria and Yemen. As if there is not enough problems to occupy the world for decades, in Britain, the Labour Opposition is trying to make political capital out of a report that the Minister of Culture had a relationship with a sex worker, by calling on him to resign his control

'ISLAMIC WOMEN' AND 'WESTERN WOMEN' - IS THERE MUCH SUBSTANCE IN THE STEREO-TYPES?

Image
A symbol can be seen from different perspectives, but the motive can be the same The generalised or stereotypical view that conservative and orthodox Muslims seem to have about 'western women' is that they are, let us say, 'unwomenly.' This conservative and orthodoxical view sees 'western women' as being unworthy of respect and adoration, and cites the way they dress, conduct themselves in public and their interaction with men as anathema.  From this world view, the orthodox and conservative Muslim projects a feeling of disrespect and fear towards 'western women', who is seem as posing a risk of contamination of the supposed 'virtuous' and 'pure' orthodox Muslim women. And so the stereotype and idealised myth persist and replaces the reality of what it really is to be a orthodox Muslim and a western woman. And what is the stereotypical western view of the Muslim woman? That she is someone who is being denied her right to expres

THE SUDDEN DISAPPEARANCE AND PROBABLY TRAGIC DEATH OF THE 4 ROBIN CHICKS.

Image
Like many other people, I sometimes contemplate on the precarious hold the living has on life, before inevitably falling into the realm of death and oblivion. Today is one such day when I am sadly required to contemplate on this fact of life and death. It is a sunny and bright Sunday afternoon, with the sky, from my vantage point, being clouded with white clouds in the background, and pockets of darker clouds drifting in the foreground, foretelling the rain which is to fall at some point along their journey across the heavens. Despite this undoubtedly beautiful view of the visible world from my window, I know only too well that all is not as I would have wanted it to be. Yes, I can hear the multi-tonal and difficult to describe chirping of various types of Twits singing, with the volume and intensity of their chirping seemingly very disproportional to the small sizes, while the sometimes softer and almost mysterious calling of the larger blackbirds might suggest that they are sm

THEISTIC RELIGIONS AND GOD - SHOULD BELIEVERS QUESTION THEIR SPIRITUAL LEADERS MORE? FINAL PART.

Image
Same object but  a different way of perceiving the world In these posts, I have sought to explore the rationale for religions, especially theistic ones which has a 'divine entity' at their core, and then attempt to explore whether these religions, with the removal of their largely redundant god/s, could continue to serve humans. In this the final part of this article, I have argued that religions which are now theistic in their centrality, could continue to play a very valuable role in the enrichment of people's lives, even when the mysticism and deceptions which have been used to convert the masses, have been removed. See what you think. Churches, especially those which have been built centuries ago, are oftentimes veritable places of awe. Many of them speak of the great inspiration which their architects and builders felt in conceiving and building them. Whether or not we are believers, many or most of us can find ourselves marvelling at these delicately and
