JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE UNREMARKABLE MARKLES, FAMILY OF THE DUCHESS OF SUSSEX. PART 1.

As fairy stories go, many are the men who would aspire toward and feel great privilege in having the honour of being engaged to and marrying a Princess of the distinguished Royal Family of Britain.  As would many women feel it a great honour to be afforded the opportunity privilege of marrying a Prince of this Royal Family.   Now, of course marrying into the Royal, or a Royal Family, as well as being born into one, can also  be or become a curse.   As the many men, women and children of many monarchies, including the British Royal Family.   Who have been murdered to satisfy Royal, legal and/or ecumenical protocols and expediences, or machivellian intrigues, have shown. So, being born into and/or marrying into a Royal Family can be both a curse and a blessing.  Whether it is more the one or the other is likely to be determined or influenced by the period, the circumstances of the royal family, and the fate of the particular individual.  'Commoners

Although, that beauty which the particular ecosystem, nature, has created, evolved in and around a specific land mass, is not one for which the people who inhabit, can claim any merit.  Not when they have not contributed anything to making and/or maintaining the natural beauty which has been sculpted by evolution and the fores of nature... This killing and robbing in Jamaica is not new; it has been going on for decades, and, at different times in the past it has been worst.  As to why it is being given more publicity might be partly to do with the fact that these criminals are targeting expatriate Jamaicans and tourists more.  Which the country's ruling and political elite might see as too economically dangerous for them not to take effective action to address.  After all, it is one thing killing local Jamaicans, but quite another when the criminals are going to systematically target the more powerful expatriate population and tourists. The problem wi

Clearly, I was not a good goalkeeper, and, unbeknown to me at the time, the force of the ball had actually killed one of my front tooth.  I had noticed that the tooth had, over time, become dark, but as it did not caused me any discomfort, I had ignored it.  Not being in the tradition of having regular dental appointment, and relying on twice a day brushing of my teeth, it would take many years before the real damage would be discovered.  Which is where Smiles Dental Practice came into the picture. And so, here I was now, sitting comfortably on in their waiting room, and listening to some soothing music, not that I needed any comforting for my appointment.  As I awaited the call from the Dental Hygienist. There was one other patient or client present when I arrived.  As I sat down I noticed that she had her mobile phone in her hand, helping her to while away the time as she awaited the appointed hour.  I looked at her, doing my best to avoid her knowing that I was

Whether it is a blessing or a curse, that a person should remember much about his/her life, before, say the age of 3 or 4, I do not know.  Be that as it may, I am neither blessed or cursed, because I am one of those remember comparatively little about what good and bad things fate threw at me before the age of about 5 years of age Some people seem to have the facility to remember things that happened to thing or things which they did from the tender age of 2 or 3.  But I would surmise that, the extent to which we remember things which had happened, which we experienced in our infancy, is influenced and/or determined by their enormity.  By their impact on us, the quality of our capacity to recognise, record and make sense of the events, and to recall them later. And by the extent to which our family lifestyle lends itself to creating and maintaining reinforcers which help us to remember and recall past events. within what I would consider to be the norm,

You are required to be mindful of inconsiderate drivers who hug the inside lane of the motorway like leeches. As they approach entry points to it, and be prepared to slow down, or speed up and make a risk entry onto it, or even stop.  Everything needs to be constantly observed, monitored, aligned, coordinated and executed; sometimes rather boldly and even with a feeling of 'whew' or 'wow, that was a bit close.'   On most occasions, the motorway entry manoeuvre can take place uneventfully, and this was one of those occasions, for me. Allowing me to enter the motorway. I had only one junction to travel, before I would be taking the slip lane to make my way for the other few miles to Smiles Dental Practice.  As the saying goes, in no time at all I was nearly there, but found that I was too early.  So I decided to make my way to a retail park and parked. Before making my way to a well-know DIY store to check if I could find a kitchen grid switch.  But t

Because, after all the killing of hundreds of thousands of Syrians, the maiming of hundreds of thousands more, and the devastation of much of Syria and its infrastructure and economy.  What is it that has been achieved? Is the current situation not worse than imperfect state which the war has attempted to replace with the realisation of the dreamed of 'perfect state' Or would things remain in tact, probably except for our psychological functioning?  Us having prepared or tried to prepare for the end, but finding that it has not come, not yet, preferring, probably, to take us unawares? And so it seems to me, that, the morale of all of this is that, there is nothing to be gained, in destroying what you/we have, because of it insufficiency. In the uncertain expectation, hope or desire that you/we will be able to realise the dream, an ideal state which is all the more idealistic, because of how far it is from reality, from being achievable.  Continuing impro

And what of Britain's Brexit? What if after the British people have made all the substantial sacrifices they now know they have to make to achieve Brexit? They then find out that, being in the European Union is not as bad as they had or should have feared; having been a part of it for over 40 years?  And having the experience of 40 years of membership to set against the uncertainty of what they might or might not gain from giving up this membership. And what if they find out that Brexit leaves them even poorer than they feared or complained that they were, when they were in the EU?  Will it all have been in vain; the sacrificing of a tangible reality, with all of its weaknesses and strengths, and the prospect of desired reforms.  For the unrealised and probably unrealisable 'dream', 'mirage,' of 'Britain being great again'? Would they call the architects of Brexit to show themselves and be accountable?  All 52 per cent of the proportion o

'A person who does not respect him/herself, is not likely to show empathic respect for others.' Cities such as London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds. Like the 'Bogey man', or the 'duppy' who gave rise to the myth, but, except for the 'zombified believer', no longer exist or is believed to the same extent.   The myth of the 'angry, aggressive and violent Jamaican' still carry currency.  In certain areas, and on certain occasions. It is, of course, more than a myth, since on some occasions it becomes a reality.  And, whenever it is reinforced by the tragic events of those occasions, it becomes strong again and generates the concern, the fear which it has generated in the past.  But back to Jamaica and the bad publicity which it is getting at present.  For the acts of violence and the senseless murders which a minority of Jamaicans are carrying out on expatriate Jamaicans. Who returning to the country of the their birt

It would not do for me, had I been caught, to resort to complaining about the adverse impact of the all too frequent roads works on my/our freedom to drive at the normal or usual speed.  After all, if the relevant road maintenance departments not undertaken to improve the condition of the roads.   I might have had due cause to be complaining about the damage being done to my car, as I negotiate potholed roads which are more off-road than on-road. But now, on this occasion, it was too late for me to hit my brake suddenly, as I was now nearly at the point of joining the roundabout.  So I kept going, and, as no vehicles were coming from my right, I went straight onto the the round about, and quickly arrived at my exit road, without having to slow down.  As the driver in the big white van who was matching my speed, had to give way to me, as I exited the roundabout onto the slip road leading to the motorway.  I was now quickly but cautiously traversing the slip road tak
