REFLECTIONS ON MAKING IT TO THE SMILING DENTIST.. PART 4.

Clearly, I was not a good goalkeeper, and, unbeknown to me at the time, the force of the ball had actually killed one of my front tooth. 

I had noticed that the tooth had, over time, become dark, but as it did not caused me any discomfort, I had ignored it. 

Not being in the tradition of having regular dental appointment, and relying on twice a day brushing of my teeth, it would take many years before the real damage would be discovered. 

Which is where Smiles Dental Practice came into the picture.

And so, here I was now, sitting comfortably on in their waiting room, and listening to some soothing music, not that I needed any comforting for my appointment. 

As I awaited the call from the Dental Hygienist. There was one other patient or client present when I arrived. 

As I sat down I noticed that she had her mobile phone in her hand, helping her to while away the time as she awaited the appointed hour. 

I looked at her, doing my best to avoid her knowing that I was looking at her. 

This esoteric game was brought to an end when another patient/client came into the waiting room and made her way towards and positioned herself between me and the other woman. 

She was older than the other woman, and did not give any indication of wanting to indulge in any social rituals such as greeting, however innocuous.  

So I strangled my inclination to say or do anything suggesting I was open for a 'hi!' or a 'good afternoon.' 

I did not have to wait long for the Dental Hygienist to appear at the glass door to my left and called me.
