Yes, I am probably stating the obvious when I say it should not have happened.   And, with hindsight, if you like, that it would not have happened, had the government of Iran taken the precautionary steps of closing Iran's Tehran's International Airport to all but military traffic.  As well as others that could have been potential targets of the Americans.
