AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY MOTHER! PART 6.

Image
As she sometimes, at times successfully, at other times not, lift herself up from an ordinary chair or her Riser comfy chair, with a quick moment.  And, having eventually accomplishing the task of rising from a sitting position, will sometimes move too swiftly.  With her body almost trailing her legs and/or her mind, with her then having to do some quick re-calibration in order to coordinate her mind, feet and arms to recompose and steady herself.  More often than not, my mother is successful, even if it can be quite scary to witness such incidents. As it is when she is unsuccessful the she suffers falls. My dear mother has now reached the point where she more than not relies on her walking stick or her walking frame to aid her perambulation.  Although, some what enigmatically, she has, of recent, opted to resort more to using her walking stick than her walking frame.  Which suggests an improvement in her mobility, and that, it might have been af

JUST A THOUGHT, IN CELEBRATION OF LEAHPAR'S 90 YEARS ON THE GOOD PLANET EARTH! PART 5.

Time, therefore, was now of the essence, and the opportunity of having a special Birthday Party for Leahpar, when he is better able enjoy it, should not to be missed. So, of they went, the organising members of Leahpar's family, to arrange his big day.  Of course, as these kinds of parties go, the organising committee did their consultation with other members of the family, do determine which of the several options they should choose.  Should they go for a party at the care home where Leahpar is living, or should they arrange for it to be held at an independent venue, probably at a local pub, or a Carvery?  If they opted to have it at the care home, they could alway buy in the kinds of food Leahpar likes.  But having his birthday party there could result in the family inconveniencing the other residents.  After all, it is not that, by having the BP at the care home, Leahpar would be able to invite any of the other residents.  As, like them, Leahp

BRITAIN'S BREXIT TRAGEDY - PRIME MINISTER THERESA MAY MORE EMPEROR NERO THAN BOUDICA !!PART 2.

Which, in effect, was to repeat or reiterate her rationale for her Brexit agreement.  I am, Mrs May asserts, simply giving the British people what they have asked for.  To be rid of their membership of the European Union. To be left to make their/our own laws, to be in control of our borders and the movement of people across them.  To have our own fisheries and food and agriculture policies. To not having any higher courts or having to observe any European Laws, but just our own.  To take back our sovereignty from Brussels, the European Union. What could be more reasonable than that; than making Britain First?  For leaving the collectivity of the European Union, and set out, alone, to make Britain wealthy, again? 'The Will of the British People', it seems, and notwithstanding the fact that it is only 'the will or vote of 52 per cent of the British voting electorate.'  Is not a sufficient and reasonable cause to take the whole British

But what about the family members, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, in-laws, and the friends whom they had invited.  Supposed he does not get on with  some of them? Especially a particular family friend who, for reasons not quite clear to members of his close family.  Leahpar has taken to expressing loud hostile views about. Blaming her for having disrespected him for no reason? Again, the family members organising the Birthday party felt confident that they could deal with any challenges which could arise.  After all, are they not all adults and should be more than capable of competently managing any difficulties? So, emboldened with this sense of confidence, Leahpar's family went about putting their Birthday Party plan into action for him.  Being only too aware of the thought that this could be their last opportunity honour Leahpar, by way of a relatively happy family occasion.  Because it is already clear to them that, Leahpar was now b

BRITAIN'S BREXIT TRAGEDY - PRIME MINISTER THERESA MAY MORE EMPEROR NERO THAN BOUDICA - , TALKING IT UP!! PART 1.

Image
If the British Prime Minister, Theresa May, is correct, then Britain leaving Europe and going it alone, is in the best interest of Britain and the British people.  Why and how is that so? Well, again, Prime Minister May provided the answers.  By the British government and nation leaving the European Union, the Prime Minister asserts, she believes with every fibre of her body, that the Brexit agreement she has negotiated with the EU, is in Britain's best interest.  She it will allow the nation to regain  control over its borders, and over who comes into the country.  It will end the writ of the European Court of Justice in Britain, and allow the British judiciary to have control over British law."  And it, the Brexit agreement, will allow the British to regain control over their fishing and food policies. Mrs May, in her Downing Street press conference, went on to explain, or rather commented about how, in effect.   She has not made the Brex

As well as this generational difference between my mother and me, there is also that of gender.   Which places some limitations or boundaries around what kinds of support and assistance male and female relatives and helpers can provide for her. But, as she is, now, my dear mother is just a couple of years short of completing, living her first One Hundred Years.   And, judging by her constant recital of the never improving pains and aches she is having to endure, might not be too keep on beginning her second Century.  Even though there are times when the things she says, and her apparent philosophy, do give me the impression that she might, indeed, want to live forever.  Not in the 'next life', but in this life on the Good Planet Earth. As I move around my dear mother, now, she seems somewhat diminished from being the imposing beautiful and dignified woman she once was.  Which is not to say she is not still very dignified; which she is.

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON HOW LIFE IS A PROCESS OF TAKING TURNS. THE END.....

Image
I am reminded of the fact that, life is a process of taking turns. Of, depending on the hand which fate has dealt us, doing all or many of the things, performing many, if not all of the roles and duties which others before us, have perform.  It is about taking turns from being a very dependant infant to a curious child, wanting to explore the world.   Which is going to spawn and nurture them into becoming the adolescents, the adults, the parents who will, in years to come.   Become the another generation of protective, loving, and, yes, not so caring and even destructive adults. Mothers, fathers and then grandparents.  Further contemplating on this life is this  process of taking turns, I become mindful of the fact that, the 'turns' in life which we take and must take.  Be it the first, such as being born, or the last, such as having to die, do change in kinds and degrees.  Depending on the society in which we live and the extent of the technological, e

JUST A THOUGHT - ON HOW 'FAILING COUNTRIES' IN THE AMERICAS CANNOT RESOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS BY RETURNING TO THE 'OLD WAYS.' PART 8.

But there is also the problem that the United States is already steep in the tide of violent crimes and gang culture.  The gangs need the people to prey upon, so they will take every opportunity to follow them and keep them in fear of them. It is understandable why many or most of the people in the Americas and the West Indies will be attracted to option of migrating 'to better pastures.'  To the countries of North America and Europe. Than to the prospect, the massive challenge of transforming their own countries into something better.  To many of them, the challenge, the problem seems too overwhelming.  Probably too unachievable. To much like having to begin, all over again, from scratch, when they probably lack even the basic resources to build a house.  Not having a steady job, so not earning a steady wage and consequently not being able to afford good basic accommodation. Who would not want to immigrate to 'a better country' where they
