AM I AN ANTI-SEMITE, OR BEING ANTI-SEMITIC? PART 8.

Which include what our parents have told or taught us. What we have learnt from our observations our environment has taught us.  And what we have learnt from the societies and peoples amongst whom we live and have knowledge about.  And, finally, tribes, what we have made of what we have seen, heard and felt.  Reflecting on my past and present, I cannot recall any occasions when I had been privy to any anti-Jew debate or discussion.  My parents have never had discussion with me, in which they spoke hatefully of Jewish people.  I had never attended any political meetings or had any discussion with my peers, in which anti-Jewish sentiments were raised.  At least, probably outside of how people who define themselves as belonging to one class, one ethnic group, one religious faith, et al.  Might tend to show some animosity towards other classes, ethnic group, religions, et al.  I have simply never been privy any expression of what might be called 'ra

DONALD TRUMP'S PRESIDENCY - SAND CASTLE BY THE SEA! PART 1.

Image
President Trump's America is likely to a prototype of post-Brexit Britain. The President has and continue to turn the world upside down, although seemingly more for ill than for good, as it were.  His acts of malfeasance are, by now, probably too numerous to count and has been as we can see from the many examples.  First he began by declaring his doctrine of 'America First', and his declaration to make 'America great again.'  Objectives which he has been attempting to achieve by, as he sees it.  Taking drastic steps, including tearing up previous trade agreements, against other countries which he argues, are in an unfair trade agreement with the United States.  A de facto declaration of trade war between the United States of America, and China and other nations. He continues to pursue his attempt to build the 'Wall of Infamy' between the United States and Mexico.  To keep out the 'poverty-stricken and huddled masses of the southern

AM I ISLAMOPHOBIC, OR AN ISLAMOPHOBE? PART 8.

In this context, to define individuals, and even some members of racist groups as 'Islamophobes and Islamophic', might be justified.  But to describe a society or nation as "Islamophobes" or "Islamobic", because of the presence of Islamophobes in them.    Is likely to be of questionable validity and unfair.  In my opinion, this is one of the reasons why it is irrational and unhelpful to use the 'doctrine of political correctness.'   To try to stifle and prevent discussion of maladies such as 'Islamophobia' and 'Anti-semitism.' Or to decree that it is only Jewish and Muslims who have the right to define the meaning of these terms, or, is you like, state. We can only better understand something, by identifying it, describing it or examples of it, debating and analysing it, and making informed conclusions about it. It is the same with 'Islamophobia' and 'Islamophic.' Is you are a Muslim, and

HARD RAIN !

Image
This is a short video of a day when it rained intensely, with the observer looking out as the rain cascaded down the window panes, making weird and wonderful shapes and images, as the water from the heaven poured out uncontrollably and seeming to be making dents on the roofs as if the Rain God was truly angry with humans and wanted to flood the land, the earth, again. Please take a look and have a listen and see if you can find something to contemplate on; even for a moment.

AM I ISLAMOPHOBIC, OR AN ISLAMOPHOBE? PART 7.

Within the context of how I have sought to describe these terms, with the former being considered as, let us say, 'the ideological underpinning of a way of perceiving and behaving towards the Islamic way of life.'   While the latter could be described as individual and non-systemic unjustified negative thoughts and action towards the Islamic way of life. Yes, 'phobism' is an extremely complex 'ideology', and, as I write this, I am beginning to question the validity of the term and its usage. You see, if we consider 'phobias' from a medical perspective, using Wikipedia's description, we are told that it is: "A phobia is a type of anxiety disorder, defined by a persistent and excessive fear of an object or situation.." So, if we are to apply this concept or definition to "Islamophobia" , it follows that such a condition cannot be appropriately addressed. By simply telling those who are perceived as or beli

AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY AGEING AND EVOLVING MOTHER! PART 32.

And, I and others need to be circumspect and not be too assumptive and presumptive in how we interact with my dear mother.  Lest we should stop listening to what she has to say, cut her off before she completes what she has to say.   Having made our default response that of thinking that we always know what she is on about, what she is going to say. And give our preset response, thereby ceasing to communicate effectively. For example, another week has elapsed and she had made no more mention of early morning banging on her front door.  Which could suggest that she might have indeed heard a banging, but, although it might seemed to have been her front door, it was somebodys else.  And that she is not becoming 'delusional', as it might appear, but rather that, in the state of mind that she was in, when she did hear the banging, she has concluded that it was her door. As simple as that. In encouraging my dear mother to endeavour to enjo

Does it not? And so it is, at times, with my dear mother, who, of more recent times, does appear to becoming more accepting of and resigned to her increasing limitations.   And of how her dependence on others increases commensurately. Neither is it the case, it appears, that changes in her cognitive functioning has to be permanent, as opposed to being temporary or be an indication of her 'good days' and 'bad days' cycle. Imagine, for example, if you will, my pleasant amazement when, only a few weeks ago, my dear mother, having recently returned home from a short spell of hospitalisation.   Informed me that the late night, early morning banging on her door and telephone calls, have stopped.  The fact that, more recently, she has informed me that the early morning banging on her front door has begun again.   Does concern me, but it is evidence of the fluctuations she experiences in her cognitive functioning.  As time progressed an

'After all, if we do not share the same roots or foundation, and make no deliberate and agreed plans for bridging the problematic differences between our different worldviews.  How likely is it that we will arrive at a mutually beneficial and peaceful destination?' But, as I have said, it is a matter of context and degrees. It s not  matter of whether or not we do have such feelings and emotions, even towards members of our own group.  Because we do. The crucial thing is that of what do we do with these feelings and emotions.  Do we just keep them inside of our thoughts, like traits which only become problematic, combustible and destructive when they come into contact and mix with people with similar traits?  Do we not speak of them for fear of being socially ostracised and even criminalised? Or do we act on them in a negative way which leads to the unprovoked expression of incitement and violence towards the people against whom we hold them. The uncons

AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX - TEAM MERCEDES MADE IT P.1 AND P.2. THE END.

I would, with some caution, expect that Hamilton will take the lead of the Championship table by the end of the 3rd Grand Prix. And what of the unyielding Verstappen, who pursued Hamilton so relentlessly during the final dozen or so laps of the race, getting to within .0.600 of a second of Hamilton?  As I watched these two doing battle, I wondered whether Hamilton might not have thought the his pursuer would catch and overtook him.  Whether the final half a dozen laps might not have seemed like the longest laps of the race to Hamilton, and, indeed, Max, but from different perspectives and for different reasons. Unfortunately for Ricciardo, he was not able to finish the race, and must now await the next race to have the opportunity to deliver for his new team. The Australian Grand Prix of 2019, it seems to me, was not a great or fantastic one, but it provided the opportunity for some exciting and thrilling moments during the race. Lewis Hamilton is probably

AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX - TEAM MERCEDES MADE IT P.1 AND P.2. PART 1.

Image
A Very Big Congratulation to Team Mercedes and their racers, Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton, for winning the first Formula 1 race of the 2019 Formula 1 season, the Australian Grand Prix.  With Bottas and Hamilton changing places, as Bottas overtaking Hamilton at the beginning of the race, to win it with a 20 second margin. Valtteri Bottas has certainly had a brilliant start to the race, and drove unassalably to  win it, and place himself at the top of the 2019 Championship table.  However, it would be wrong to read too much into this. With it being only the first race of the season.  It is not clear, at least, to me, why Hamilton  was outdone by his team mate, but it does happen that sometimes Pole is won spectacularly, and is subsequently lost during the start of the Grand Prix, only to be retaken during the entirely of the race.  On this occasion, Hamilton was not able to employ his golden threat to pull him team mate back and overtake him.  Probably

JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE DESTRUCTIVE NATURE OF RELIGION. PART. 3

Image
Apparently driven by racists and Islamophobic motives, why do we not see that religion is destroying and not saving humanity.  Because religions are about submitting all humans to the rule of 'their Gods' according to the human authors of the respective religions? Why do we humans continue to ignore the fact that, religion is the enemy of the people, of us,  all of us , and not our friend?  That it divides and sets us against each other, and does not unite us?  That it promotes division and has absolutely nothing to do with any sentient God or Gods, but is all about us humans? It saddens me to see intelligent men and women and young people attending their mosques, churches, Gurdwaras, temples, shrines and other places of worship.  Submitting themselves to their 'gods' or God. Without any true evidence of his or their existences. I see this as socialised, indoctrinated and acculturised madness. Why do humans continue to give such undeserved legit
