THE RUMSFELDIAN RUMINATIONS OF I, DONALD J TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! PART 11.

How is it that, despite our consistently and predictable disfavour towards them, they continue to believe that we will behave differently, this time?  Is there any wisdom, I ask myself, in believing the promise of a chronic alcoholic, when he reassures, or try to do so, again, that he has now stopped drinking alcohol? And what of those pesky Europeans, I enquire of myself and my good colleague, Nikki Haley? How dare they oppose our position at the United Nations and voted against us?  What is the world coming to, I ask myself, when the European tail of the Nato Dog, seeks to dissect itself from the American head, and presumes to take the lead role?  Is this not another sign of the Europeans not respecting America? Is it not why God has chosen me to be President and to 'make America great again?  Is it not why I must pursue my endeavour, my sacred mission, to make America First?  Of course it is, and while the unbelievers might seek to deny it. It is sufficient

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON MID-NIGHT MASS AND THE NEED FOR A MORE WORTHY GOD/S! PART 3.

Image
Looking around in the church, as Mid-Night Mass was taking place, I was sharing this refuge with probably 50 or 70 other worshippers, all of us adults, and most being retired or nearing retirement age.  It is the case that religious, especially establishment religion, has become the preserve of the older generations?  Though I suspect that this has nothing to do with the older generations being nearer to the end of the journey of life, and being more anxious to curry favours with the gods.  It is more a matter, it seems to me, that the older generations have always been the repository of societies' traditions and customs. It was very noticeable that that the solemnity of the occasion was also marked by a certain staidness, a lack of any passion from the congregation.  It was perfunctory, even, a matter of going through the motions, both for the officiating priests, and for the congregation.  Someone who was new to this kind of ritual, might even be moved to a

JUST A .THOUGHT - OF DYING AND DEATH PART 2.

Image
Such are the misfortunes of  humans, that, not only should we have to die, as the cost or price of having lived, but also that so many of us should have to suffer terrible means of dying.  Should be denied the power to be able to make our deaths as quick and less painful as possible. If it is one thing the experience of a fellow human's death does for us humans, it is to help us to become acutely focused, at least for a period of time.  As we intently reflect on our experience of what we have seen, felt and heard about the life which has just expired.  Of how a fellow human who has only recently been a feeling, sentient, visible and animated entity, can suddenly become a lifeless and inanimate 'object.'  How, we ask ourselves, did this phenomenon occurred? Where did their 'life' went to? Where will our 'life', when our time come, goes to?  As we look down on the now lifeless body or bodies of our fellow human, and imagine it/them to be me/us?

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON MID-NIGHT MASS AND THE NEED FOR A MORE WORTHY GOD/S! PART 2.

Image
So, how are we, unbelieving humans, to deal with the glaring contradictions, the improbably mathematical, moral and intellectual challenges with which the more discerning among us are confronted?  When we try to engage in acts of worship with our religious compatriots? What happens when we decide to take part in a religious ceremony, with our believing compatriots, but you do not share their religious beliefs ?  What happens when you decide to go to Midnight Mass, probably as an act of giving or attempted empathy with members of our family who practises such a religion?  How do you, how are we expected or supposed to feel, when we mouth the religious rituals of that religion, only to find that, try as we might, we just cannot identify with the words, or even the sentiments? How are you/we supposed to respond to a church setting with a little manger with a toy baby Jesus inside it, in front of the alter, and with not a single child to be seen anywhere?  What do

On A Cold Winters' Day. 1

This is a short video of  a refreshing walk by the iced Canal, on a refreshingly cold Winter's day in December. Please take a look, and see if you find something contemplative, reflective and/or enjoyable in it, and do enjoy, if so.

THE RUMSFELDIAN RUMINATIONS OF I, DONALD J TRUMP, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! PART 10.

A man who is hated by his fellow Americans and the people of all nations of the world, in probably equal measure? And yet, I must continue to be strong. Being emboldened by my Christian belief that what I am doing is 'right', and that it is what 'our Christian and Jewish God wants me to do.  That I have 'God and religion, Judaism and Christianity, on my, on America's side. And, despite this, the signs of the people's dislike of me are, indeed, numerous. Which might also be a sign of how far the people have strayed away from 'God's path.  Something which I intend to correct by 'making America great again.' By 'making America First', after 'God', after our 'sacred religions.' No sooner have I declared that this soon to be great again country of ours, the Unite States of America, has recognised Jerusalem as the capital of the great State of Israel.   Than we have the Arabs and the Muslims of the world exhaling

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON WHETHER THE 'ENLIGHTENED' WEST IS BECOMING MORE PURITANICAL? PART 1.

Image
'There is, sometimes, the paradox of a thing having the dual abilities to be of a benefit and a disadvantage to humans.  Take, for example, the Sun, that giver of life, of warmth, of rain, the quintessential planetary body which provides us with the crops we eat. The plants we use to build our dwellings and stockade our animals and construct barriers between us and our enemies, both humans and animals.  And yet, too much of the Radiance and heat of the Sun, and it scorched and set fire to parts of the earth and takes back the lives it has given birth to.  And, even worse, although not for many millenniums, we are told, said life-giving and sustaining Sun, is fated to incinerate Planet Earth. Is it also the fate which awaits the progression of human social development?  That we are fated to return to the chaos and puritanicalism from whence we crawled and fought our way, throughout the ages, or be destroyed by excessive and extreme 'freedom' and 'p

JUST A THOUGHT - OF GODS AND HUMANS, AND WHY HAVING A 'GOD' MIGHT BE A NECESSITY. THE END!

Image
Then, it is time for us to acknowledge that our gods should now be recognised as being of our own creation.  Probably inseparable and indivisible from us. And that our expectations of them, should be consistent with our expectations of ourselves, as humans. Since they/we are one and the same.  It is probably not as the Muslims say, 'there is no god but Allah.'  But rather, there is no god but us humans, functioning as one people committed to the achievement of the greatest enlightenment and happiness of our kind. Even if it is likely that, us having created our gods, might be a reflection of us 'passing the buck', for both our achievements and our own failures.  'Our gods' made us do good, and 'our devils' made us do ill. Therefore, we are not really responsible, since we are merely the tools of the 'gods', including the 'devil.'  Even though it should be clear that, like us, 'our gods' are capable of doing both &

JUST A THOUGHT - OF GODS AND HUMANS, AND WHY HAVING A 'GOD' MIGHT BE A NECESSITY. PART 3.

It is always the person/people who are 'help' or 'saved', who help themselves.   With or without the assistance of others and fortuitous occurrence of fate.  This is so, whether it has been the case of Christendom, Judaism, Islam, Sikhism, Hinduism, et al.  Having used or using their respective god/s and religions as a banner and battle cry. To make war or declare jihad on their 'enemy/ies. '  Who always happen to be their fellow humans, but who has been 'enimised' on the basis of a differentiated 'god and religion.'  Or whether it pertains to an individual or people contending with some natural disaster. As I have already argued, it is quite impossible for the gods to help us of themselves.   Since they have no power, no being, except that which the faithful and the believers bestow upon them.  And with which they are given life and become animated. If they are bestowed with the power of love and compassion, then these are t
