A big Congratulation to Lewis and Team Mercedes, for having nailed the Qualifying Session of the Malaysian Grand Prix, to place themselves on Pole. Congratulations, also, to Kimi and Team Ferrari, for having gone some way to redeem themselves and taking P 2 in Q.3, after the unfortunate even of Sebastian Vettel, due to car problems, not having progressed from Q.1.  And, last, but, as the stereotype goes, to the indubitable Max Verstappen, for placing his car on P.3 position. Yes, judging from the performance of Mercedes during the Practising Sessions, there were serious concerns about up far up the order both Lewis and Valtteri would have progressed by the Qualifying Sessions today.  Few of us watching, would probably have been surprised if they had not made it to the Podium. The fact that they are not being shown the 'respect' and appreciation which they, and others, are being asked to show towards the National Flag and Anthem.  Purported 'sacred symbols which, it is claimed, also represent them. How can they, unquestioningly, respect and honour the Flag and National Anthem, of the country which disrespects and dishonours them?  And as for those who are always too ready to utter the refrain, 'then you can leave the country.'  Let them remind themselves of the fact that, African Americans have, proportionally, probably sacrificed more of their lives and shed more blood for America, than any other ethnic group, except probably Native Americans.  Not only as Slaves and workers employed in accruing the wealth of the nation. But also as soldiers, in wars such as the American War of Independence, the American Civil War, the two World Wars, and the Vietnam War. We might be the product of our environments, such as our ethnic, cultural, religious and geographic location on the earth's surface.  But we must rise above their physical limitations. We need to think in the language of the future, and dream in the imagery of the future reality which we aspire to bring about; to realise.   The establishment of new nations based on uni-ethnic or primarily uni-ethnic and religious demographics represents a return to the past.  A past which, as it recedes further into the distance, might appear to be more appealing than it ever was. Even if the Kurdish populated areas of Iraq were to become independent, the newly independent Kurds would still be confronted with much of the problems which most of the people of the world are having to face.  Problems of corrupt politicians, problems between the elites and the masses, problems associated with getting a job, being able to house and feed your family.  It would also remove, to so

Nothing is intrinsically sacred or sacrosanct.  There is no intrinsic esteemed or enhanced value in anything, including the gods, the national flags and anthems.  The only value which things have, within the human realm, is that which we imbue them with. Some people are arguing that the American NFL players are bringing politics into sports, and that this is wrong.  Yet, those who have and/or would argue that the playing of the National Anthem and displaying of the nation's Flag, are themselves eminently political statements, are likely to be more persuasive.  Especially to those who approach the debate with more logic than passion or emotion. Sports have, even more than in the past, become more about money and politics.  A country's National Anthem and Flag, are as political as you can ever get, as they symbolise its sovereignty. We can see the case of the creation of Pakistan, in 1947, as probably the most or one of the most glaring example of the failure of trying to create a new nation.   Based primarily on the religious and cultural commonality of the people who are to form the new nation.  Seventy years later, Pakistan and India are still at different levels of war with each other.   Primarily because of their religious and cultural differences, which have become more institutionalised through their now legitimised nationhood.  The state of Israel is probably another example. And we can look all around the world today, in Africa, in Asia, in the Far East, in Europe, in North and South America.  And we see tensions and even open conflict between people of different ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.  This is a fact of contemporary human living, and has been the case for centuries. It is a problem, at times a catastrophe, which needs to be improved and resolved.  But it is
