JUST PHILOSOPHISING- ON, AMERICANS CHOOSING BETWEEN THEIR FLAG, THEIR GOD, AND THEIR HUMANITY! PART 1.

'Let everything be subjected to debate, because it is only through and by debating the merits and demerits, the relative validity and invalidity of things.  That humans shall, will ever attain greater knowledge and understanding of the things which are within our realm. And how we can achieve greater enlightment, and enhance our survival.'

So, it is good that the Americans should be debating the matter of whether it is 'disrespectful' or not, for the 'warriors' of the NFL not stand up and place their hand on their heart.

As the Flag of the Union, of the United States of American is displayed, and the American National Anthem is solemnly played.

Even more so, whether it is not gross 'disrespect' for American NFL players to 'takeaknee', and kneel down, while the National Anthem is being played and the American Flag is displayed, at the start of each game.

'Takeaknee', you might already know, has become a symbolisation of the American sports men and women who are emulating Colin Kapernick.  A 'demonised' NFL player, in taking a stand against the now endemic and institutionalised injustices which personified America is meting out daily, to Americans of colour.

Kapernick's stance, as I understand it, is simply this:

'How can he, as an American, and an African American at that, stands up at a football game and look proud, while the American Flag and National Anthem is displayed and sung.

While millions of Americans are being systematically denied the opportunities and status which the American Constitution has sought to enshrine and made sacrosanct in the nation's soul?

How can he possibly keeps his eyes open and his intellect engaged, and reconcile the grand ideals of the American Constitution, with the, at times, literally hellish reality which he is observing daily?'

It is arguable that it is fitting that civilised people should, in order to pay homage to their humanity.

Be willing and able to show a certain amount of 'disrespect' for all things which humans hold sacrosanct and holy, including their/our gods.

Why? Because, as I am arguing, it is, even as a child might, by so doing that we attain greater knowledge and understanding of our universe, including of ourselves.

Nothing, however sacred, in the affairs of human living should be beyond being challenged, and being questioned in the most robust manner.

Consider, for example, the esteem in which the Hindus hold the cow. Yet, for meat eaters, who do not hold cows as sacred, the only blessed thing about them, is their ability to preserve life by providing meat for people?

Had human not had the freedom to question things, then all humans would have to treat the cow as sacred, at least those living under Hinduism.

So, where am I going with this, and what is its relevance to the controversy taking place in the United States of America? Just this; that people matters more than our apparently sacred objects, whether they are Flags, national anthems, or even human appointed gods.

The purported gods have never been know to do humans good or evil. It has always been done by those who hold themselves to be the vengeful or benevolent servants of the gods.

To be continued.
