The most recent example of which we have seen in President Trump posing with a Bible in from of a church, following his declared intention to use his armed forces "to dominate the streets." A declaration which speaks of power, raw power, but not of  'greatness.' Greatness, after all, is so much more than  raw power .  Greatness , for me, at any rate, speaks of a certain consummation   A certain maturity, a certain prudence, a certain finesse, a certain demonstration of exceptionally successful national and international leadership and governance. As well as being a people who are in the forefront of economic, political, social, intellectual, military, and societal advancement.  Quite simply, the United States has not been in the forefront of all of these developments, especially that pertaining to the protection of basic human rights and racial and social justice. What has been decisive, as it probably always will be, is the fact that the Jewish people of Israel had.   And continue to have very powerful non-Jewish allies in their battle against the Palestinians and their Muslim allies in the Middle East and around the world.
