'Time is the enemy of those who want to change the American criminal justice system. As it is not easily changed and people have lives to live.'

Why?  Well, beyond citing raw economic, trading, technological and intellectual power as the criteria which they are using to define their concept of 'greatness.' 

The Trump administration is markedly reticent about the social, societal aspects of 'magatising' America. 

Yes, we have heard more than we want to hear about their 'pro-life', their religious conservatism and their pro-gun agendas. 

But little or very little about the achievement of great social justice for Americans, about the regeneration of impoverish and haemorrhaging towns and urban communities. 



Nothing about criminal justice system reform and changing the emphasis and focus of policing, from that of protection for the police at the cost of the community and the innocent citizen.  

To one which places the emphasis on protecting the community and the citizen first.

The fact is, though rather a bit cliche, that America has, arguably, never been 'great.'  No in the sense of the Roman Empire, or the British Empire has been in the past.
