JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE ARMING OF AMERICA'S TEACHERS/PROTECTORS. PART 2.

Image
And, just to make sure that there will always be an adequate supply of these intrepid 'warrior teachers' available.  Why not make it easier and less expensive for ex-armed forces personal to train to become teachers/warriors?  Why not make 'shooting qualifications' and armed services experience essential requirements for becoming a 'teacher/protector'? But what about the cost of buying the latest and most appropriate guns to join the ranks of the 'teacher/protector' fraternity?  After all, guns can cost a lot of money, and you have to have the right ones, and the right 'teacher/protector' using them.  If you do not, as is too often the case with American cops, you could end up killing more students than you are protecting. When the aim is not to kill any students at all, in your endeavour to protect yourself. And what kind of guns will the President equip the 'teacher/protector' with?  We know that the President

JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE ARMING OF AMERICA'S TEACHERS/PROTECTORS. PART 1..

'The psychology of the evolution of thought, from us conceiving of something to it evolving or developing into something we give expression to by speech, and then realising it into something tangible.'  Which we can see, touch, feel, and hear, is, indeed, remarkable. It becomes crystalised, no longer a taboo or an impossibility.  It now becomes a probability, it becomes acceptable to interrogate and evaluate it. Consider the most recent invention of the President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, to effectively address the contagion of gun crimes in that country.  President Trump's idea is so simple and straightforward, that we could all be wondering why nobody has not thought of, or, probably more to the point, proffered it before.  Is this a case of Americans having overlooked simple and simplified solutions to a complex problem?  Believing that the answer has to lie in more complex and sophisticated solutions?  Probably lik

JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS' DILEMMA AND JACOB ZUMA'S DOOM! PART 3.

Image
But what of the African  National Congress? If ~Jacob Zuma, whom the ANC has chosen to lead the country is not fit to rule, not fit for purpose.   The purpose of uniting South Africans, all South Africans, to build the 'Rainbow Nation.'  Then, how much fitter is the ANC to continue to be the ruling Party?  Is it just a matter of leader malfunctioning, or is it also a matter of Party dysfunctioning?  Is the ANC, which fought for and help to liberate South Africa from the clutches of the vile Apartheid Regime, also the Party which is capable of building the 'new South Africa'?  Can the ANC really be fit for purpose without 'reforming itself and re-equipping itself' for that challenge ahead? It is extremely difficult for the ANC to convince either its members, it detractors and those who are indifferent to  it.   That is a political party which  is best equipped and fit to take South Africa and the people of South Africa to, as it were, 'the pr

IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 8.

This is something which Kazaliwa would later picked upon, and which his mother would have to poignantly acknowledge to him, in his mid-twenties. Whatever the reasons for his disruptive behaviours, they became more pronounced and problematic after Kazaliwa moved from nursery to his first Infant and Junior School. Tillington Manor School, which he started attending on 6th January 1994. Although Mfanyazaki and Nzuri might not have realised it then, there had been a lot of changes involving them and their children. During the few years preceding and following the birth of Kazaliwa. They included his traumatic birth, his serious eye problem, which needed careful and continuing attention.  And the death of Nzuri’s mother in November 1990, just a few days before Kazaliwa’s first birth day. They also included the family moving from London to Stafford in July 1993, after Mfanyazaki having secured a new job there. This meant Kazaliwa and his brother, Mzaliwa, h

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE PARADOX OF THE IMMIGRANT PART 1.

Image
The immigrant places great emphasis on them, as if they were holy relics at the alter of a venerable god.  The immigrant accords and maintains great value and reverence on to all the artefacts which he/she holds as the source of their identity.  As being the rock which is going to support them and get them through their sojourn in the land of 'otherness.'  The land and people they do not really want to become at one with, apart of, but which they look to provide them with whatever it was that took them there.  Be it political refuge or economic need. The land and people which the immigrant has a resentful feeling towards.  Intending only to remain there until he/earns sufficient money and saves enough to return to his native country.  When he will 'become a big man.' Living in self-imposed isolation and not wanting to become 'contaminated' by the way of life of his host.   The 'purist' and myopic immigrant cuts themselves of

JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE AFRICAN NATIONAL CONGRESS' DILEMMA AND JACOB ZUMA'S DOOM! PART 2.

Since this post series was started, Jacob Zuma has, finally, done the right thing and resigned from the Presidency of South Africa.  With Cyril Ramaphosa having now resumed the role of being appointed, but not yet elected President of the Republic.  Although this change of rider has resulted in hope for the Republic replacing the previously mounting concerns about the inept government of the country.  Unless there are fundamental and urgent review and reform of the ANC, the currently somewhat encouraging situation is likely to be no more than a temporary respite.  Since  a new rider cannot deliver the country to the promised land, without also renewing and equipping the ANC, so that it becomes fit for purpose. For achieving the mission which CM is setting himself, and the South African Nation. The ANC, like ZANU-PF, has become synonymous with the country and the State of South Africa.  With the failings of the Party becoming also the failings of the country, and the pr

The Garden In Mid-February!

Image
This video presents a moment in time and space, of how the Garden looks in the still Wintery month of February.  Looking closely, you can see the emergence of new life, as the emerging Crocuses seem to beckon the viewer, to look 'this way', with not much competition from the rest of the rather tired looking flora.  All probably 'thinking', I hope this dour Winter comes to an end soon. Please take a look and a listen and see what thoughts and feelings it evokes.

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE MIXED MESSAGES OF WOMEN'S STRUGGLE FOR ADVANCEMENT. THE END..!

The methods with which it has to be fought, will also be different, at times. There will be different priorities in different countries and societies.  For women in the West, not being subjected to sexual harassment in the work place might be high on their priority list.  For women in rural societies in the Indian Sub-continent, the Middle East and Asia.  Their priority might be about being able to leave their home without a male relative shadowing them.   Or being able to own and drive a car, or not having to endure the torture of female genital mutilation.  Or following barbaric and primitive 'customs' whereby their pubertal daughters are raped, with the consent of their parents, in order to 'purify' them after their first period.  Or it might be about  their daughters being considered as worthy as their sons to be provided with a good education.  For women in the West Indies, Africa and South America, it might be about not being subjected to t

JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE HYPOCRISY AND FOLLY THE RULING POLITICAL CLASSES. THE END..!

It is not about the purported 200 Russians and dozens of Syrian government forces whom the Americans have killed, in order to protect areas of Syria which the Americans have occupied.  That, for them, is 'old news', 'boring stuff.' Something 'that happens to other people', and which they have now become immune to. Neither is it about the greatly increased privation and hunger which the people of Venezuela are having to try to survive.   As the policies of their President, Maduro, and the reaction of the United States Government, in instituting economic sanctions against the country, is having on them.  No. That, also, is 'old news' and 'something that happens to other people.'  Neither is it about how the more abled governments and international financial institutions are going to work together.   To help to finance the estimated 100 billion dollars it will cost Iraq to rebuild the destroyed cities, towns and villages.  Whic
