This is something which Kazaliwa would later picked upon, and which his mother would have to poignantly acknowledge to him, in his mid-twenties.

Whatever the reasons for his disruptive behaviours, they became more pronounced and problematic after Kazaliwa moved from nursery to his first Infant and Junior School.

Tillington Manor School, which he started attending on 6th January 1994.

Although Mfanyazaki and Nzuri might not have realised it then, there had been a lot of changes involving them and their children. During the few years preceding and following the birth of Kazaliwa.


They included his traumatic birth, his serious eye problem, which needed careful and continuing attention. 

And the death of Nzuri’s mother in November 1990, just a few days before Kazaliwa’s first birth day.

They also included the family moving from London to Stafford in July 1993, after Mfanyazaki having secured a new job there.

This meant Kazaliwa and his brother, Mzaliwa, having to be collected by a child-minder’s son, from from their school and taken to the child-minder.

To await being collected by their mother, Nzuri, after she finished work in the evenings.

This was also a period which saw Mzaliwa, his brother, having measles and his tonsils and addenoids removed during the first few months of 1994. As well as their mother, Nzuri, becoming acutely depressed in April 1994.

Kazaliwa's bad behaviour led to his teachers at Tillington Manor, School contacting his parents regularly, and them having to visit the school to discuss their son’s behavioural problems with them. T

The concerns included reports that Kazaliwa was hitting other children and not doing as he was told to do.
