JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON RUSSIA'S SEARCH FOR HER PLACE IN A WARY WORLD. PART 3.

Image
It is all a matter of context. If you are a rich Russian in Russia, you might perceive your Russian soul somewhat differently than a poor Russian might.  Considering that the latter might not be at risk of losing him/her wealth; just their honour as a proud Russian.  If you are a member of the Russian political and economic elite, you might perceive the current rabid 'anti-Russophobia differently from how a 'pro-western Russian activist' might be perceiving it.  Seeing that, while you might be at risk of having the America-led West impose political and economic sanctions against you.   The 'pro-western  activist' stands to lose his liberty, by being declared 'an enemy of the State' and a spy or possible tool of the Russophobes. It is probably about right, to conclude that, all Russians who love their country, including those who are not supporters of their government and/or the Russian President.  Will be feeling a sense of concern about what

JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE CONTRADICTIONS OF THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST! PART 1.

That the day on which the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, the purported Son of God, according to the Christian faith, was put to death on the Cross.   Should come to be called 'Good Friday', is a testament to the mystery and paradoxical nature of Christianity.  For how, you might think, can it be that a day which robbed Christians of their 'Redeemer', should be described as a 'good day.'?  At least, that is what you might think, until you realise what the Christian Gospels have to say about Jesus Christ having to die, in order for the gospel to be fulfilled.  In other words, Jesus Christ was fated, prophesied to be killed in the manner in which he was crucified and on the said day. So, in a rather paradoxical way, we can really interpret the Crucifixion of Christ as a 'good' thing, in that it was what was required for the will of the Christian God to be done, or fulfilled. Of course, the evolution of the word 'good',

THE TRAGIC AND EVOLVING SAGA OF THE SKRIPAL INCIDENT!

Image
The tragic case of the Skripal Incident has provided the West with a 'stick with which to beat' Russia.  Even though we do not yet know whether this 'stick' is really one which the Russian State has crafted, or whether it is one which has been contrived by other governments or forces, probably known to the non-public initiated.  What we do know, is that it is a convenient 'stick', and one which Russia's detractors relish using to beat the Russians for past, present and excepted future misdemeanours. Real and contrived. We have seen, so far, Acts 1, 11, 111 and 1V, and now we await Act V, from the Americans, and, possibly, their EU and Nato partners.  Act 1V  was a well orchestrated response from the Americans and the Europeans.  They had resolved to hit the Russians and to hit them hard. Which they did.  Even though it is inconceivable that they would have failed to recognise that, in taking the concerted action which they have ta

The 'Russian soul', arguably', is a unique one which has evolved out of its unique Russian habitat.  It might be misunderstood and/or viewed with fear and intolerance by other people and nations.  And yet, its character is probably what has enabled it to survive and prosper in the conditions in which it lives.  The 'Russian soul' might not be as  mixed or multi-layered  as 'The Euro-American soul. '  Which has accommodated and assimilated the various influences of particular European countries from which the Euro-American hails.  Something which could prove both a strength and/or weakness of the 'Russian soul.'  It is a characteristic which will has helped to give birth to the many renown Russian writers, such as Solzhenitsyn, Tolstoy and others.  And to Russia's contribution towards the advancement of science, technology, sports, human political and intellectual development. When I speak of the 'uniqueness' of the 'R

'The Leaders of the Russian Federation are trying to find their place in the 21st Century world, with stiff and unremitting competition and rebuttal from the leaders of Western Europe and the United States of America.  Is it time for President Putin and other leaders of the Russian Federation to rethink their plan of aligning the RF more towards the 'European' and less 'Asian' axis of gravity?' So, what does it feel like being a Russian? Well, probably that is the wrong qestion, at least, for one who is not a Russian.  And, then, even for Russians, it could be a difficult question, since, being a Russian, might mean different things for Russians, depending, for example, on the context.  I mean, if they are a Russian, in whose body the soul of Russia permeates and holds sway, and find themselves in the United States of America.  Or in the United Kingdom, in Germany, France or Lithuania or Estonia, they might be feeling perplexed.  They migh

A global human society and world which is more liberated from the the constraints, the oppression and backwardness of a redundant past.  Which is holding the better future which needs to be built, to ransom, making it an hostage. So, yes, 'culture' is more important than ethnic and/or 'racial' affiliations.  Which is why we have black people fighting against black people, white people fighting against white people.   Indian, Chinese and other Asiatic people fighting against other Indian, Chinese and Asiatic people.  And Arab people fighting against other Arab people. In short, people, humans fighting against other humans.  Primarily because they are perceived as belonging to 'another culture', which oftentimes including them belonging to 'another religion or religious faction.' This is why it is not about getting rid of 'culture.' But rather of building an inclusive culture which reflects our contemporary humanity.

JUST A THOUGHT - ON BEING PURSUED BY AND/OR PURSUING TIME. PART 2.

As we can witness from watching a person being born and living to an advanced age.  As we can ascertain from watching the time induced chemical changes in between different chemicals being combined. But, let us leave physics and scientific exploration, and remain with philosophy. And then, there are the times when time can passes by so so slowly, such as when we are counting down the days to doing something exciting.  Such as performing at an event, putting on a show, going on holiday, celebrating Christmas, or a carnival, or some other religious festival.  And how slowly the time can crawls by, when we are feeling or boring ourselves.   Because we find ourselves doing something which we have no interest in doing.   Whether we are doing it voluntarily or because we have to do it. Of course, such times could include the proverbial 'doing nothin.' But there are other times when time is of seemingly even greater importance to us.  Such as in

As such the resident might not have the privilege or freedom to have their meals saved for them, if they are not feeling hungry or want to eat at the set mealtimes.  Similarly, keeping a person safe can prejudice their freedom of movement and to use equipment which they might or would like to use.  Achieving and maintaining the right balance between enabling the resident to exercise appropriate freedom and facilitating their safety and welfare can be a very fraught one.  Since the tendency of their relatives and the authorities, to prioritise their safety, although oftentimes understandable, might not be realistic.  But it is a risk adverse principle and expectation which is oftentimes applied. Not surprisingly, the aim, the objective of the best of the residential and nursing homes, for the vulnerable older people.  For whom they have the responsibility of care, is to provide for them, the 'best home away from home.'  To, as much as possible provide a personali
