JUST A THOUGHT - CHINESE WORLD DOMINANCE AND SOME OF ITS CONTRADICTIONS. PART 1.

Image
'The Chinese state wants to replace the Americans as the principal leader of the global community of nations.  But what is their vision; are they committing to building a better world than the western capitalists and liberal-democrats have built, and thereby establishing a greater 'moral justification' to become and respected as 'principal leader of the world'?' Will the Chinese become the number one economic and probably military power in the world within the next 10-20 years?  Will they assume the mantle of being the most dominant political power in the world, whether it be 'the free world' or 'assumed unfree world'?  And, they so, what will become of the seemingly perennial struggle between 'democracy and the democracies' and the 'dictatorships', whether they be benign  or malignant ones?  Will it really matters anymore, really matters, as opposed to being made to matter by those of us who might be conside

AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY AGEING AND EVOLVING MOTHER! PART 78.

Well, from the point of view of our common destiny, it really does not matter.  It only matters to the interacting parties, in that either perspective will or is likely to influence how they view and deal with one another, and how it impacts on their relationship. However, as the singer, Nasio Fontaine entreats us to do, let us focus on the positives.  And the positive on which I now need to focus, is on the recent more pronounced tendency of my dear mother to 'thank' for what I have done for her.  Such as when I recently took her fortnightly shopping to her apartment complex and rang to tell her I have left it in the reception for one of those kind volunteers to lug the heavy shopping trolley up to her apartment.  No sooner had I began to turn around the car to leave, than my mobile began to ring.  Calmly I continued with completing the manoeuvre and then parked up the car and check my mobile.  It was my dear mother; and what could she have wa

Which is not to say she agrees with them. Just as how I should and have by now become au fait with most, if not all of the things she consistently and persistently cites as being the, as it were, bane of her life.  A life which has been long, but which, it would seem, has been mostly an unhappy, unfulfilled and dissatisfied life.  A life which, it appears, though having now reached the one century milestone. Has not provided my dear mother with requisite amount of experiences of happiness and pleasure.  Which would have equipped her with the default mindset to, now, in her advanced years, be able to recall and enjoy the delightful experiences of  her Spring years, and her Summer years.  Which should have spoken so elegantly of birth, of life, of youth, of love, of adulthood, of renewal, of achievement, and of happiness. Do I expect too much from my dear mother? Is it more virtuous to be 'philosophical' about ones life, than to proclaim that it has and

JUST A THOUGHT ON - THE POWER OF OUR FEARS! PART 1.

Image
'Our fears can help to protect us and/or destroy us. It can be a positive or negative motivator, but it is also a necessary requirement for the survival of our species.' So, what is it about our fears, why they take up so much of our waking and unconscious psychological and mental resources?  Do our fears enslave, incarcerate our 'me-ness', the awareness in our consciousness that is able to converse with it, ourselves?  Do they place necessary and unnecessary limitations around how we live our lives, whether they be 'rational' or 'irrational' fears?  And what might I be thinking of, you might ask, when I define fears as 'rational' and 'irrational'?  Well, simply this. There are some fears which are rational, because they are meant to protect us from the thing/s, or ideas or thoughts of which we have become aware.  As is our fear about putting our hands in boiling water or into the fire and getting it burnt.  T

RELIGIOUS DILEMMAS - DREAMING OF OR IMAGINING A WORLD WITHOUT THEISTIC RELIGIONS! PART FINIS!

However, difficult as it to accept and implement, reformed religious faiths could continue to play major roles in serving communities and countries in which they are based and/or operate. Well, it could happen, logically, it should happen. But just as how wars could cease and it would be logical for people to stop making wars.  There are vested interests involved; religions are, after all, mainly, originally, about acquisition, accumulation and exercise of mythical power over superstitious people.  Like 'the word having become flesh', as it were, so has the religious myth have become solid and institutionalised in the people and their religious symbols. And the possession and exercise of these is not something that the religious clergies and leaders are going to relinquish gracefully at anytime soon.  Consequently, the acceptance of the demise of 'God', and the need for 'new religions' which is not predicated upon his existence, non-existence.   Will have to con

IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 47.

'What we recall of our experiences of the past, tends to be a factor of how they impacted on our senses at the time, the strength of our continuing attachment to those experiences.   And the extent to which we have succeeded in assimilating them into our subsequent experiences and move on with our lives.' Pain which Kazaliwa himself might not have been able to appreciate, and he was in a physical and psychological place where the ability and capacity to feel and project empathy, was in very scarce supply. After all, Mzaliwa's motto, if he were to have one, could fittingly be that of 'cupiditate fecerim', 'do it with passion.'  Considering that a large part of his character has been his tendency to do whatever he did, whether it was perceived as negative or positive, good or bad, with a noticeably passion.  Thus his tendency to be loud, intense, impulsive, yes, passionate in most or many of the things he set his mind to do. As Kaza
