JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - 'THE THING ABOUT MEAT EATERS IS THAT...' THE END ?????

Winter's Hazy Skyline. Or, in the case of  Muslims in some Islamic countries where the animal is not stunned, but has a prayer said for it, that that animal, given the choice, would prefer the prayer rather than be stunned and avoid the  acute pain of the knife taking it to its destiny? There is also the ethics 'thing about meat-eater', concerning the over-production and how it acts to devalue not only the lives of the animals being produced for as commodity.  But also how it lays waste to the land and degrades the environment. There is this conflicting perspective when us meat-eaters argue the case for protecting the environment and fighting adverse climate change. Of course, the non-meat-eater among us does not have any moral authority to condemn us meat-eaters for our apparent irreconcilable position or predicament.  Since this is not something which is specific to meat-eaters, but can be observed in many aspects of 'modern life.'  Such as, for example, the res

AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY AGEING AND EVOLVING MOTHER! PART 142.

But, on to more positive and satisfying developments. Recently my dear mother has found herself in the pleasant situation of welcoming an important visitor.  One whom, not only has she not seen for a long time, but whom she could so easily not have seen again before she goes over the abyss of destiny.  She clearly found this visit very pleasing, and, if it was a case of the proverbial 'unfinished business' delaying her going over the abyss.  Then, the act of seeing this visitor, is the kind of event after which she could have been expected to happily take her leave of the world of the living.  Such was its importance for my dear mother, and, indeed, her visitor and everyone concerned with my dear mother's welfare. But all of this undoubted joy, only offer momentary respite from the increasing poignancy and anxieties associated with the care and welfare of my dear mother.  Her moving about, even between her bed and her commode, her dressing and undressing herself, brings w

The deliberate taking of life, or, more graphically stated, the killing of a person or other primate, by an apparently sane person, requires a potent, even if not necessarily logical justification.  Normally it is one based on the premis of 'them not being like us', where 'them' can be perceived as 'the enemy', 'the bad guys' 'those of the wrong religion or ethnic group or nationality.'   Or,  where it pertains to animals produced for human consumption, 'not capable of feeling pain and perceiving death like humans do.' In that, if, as is clearly the case, we are counted on the 'demand' side of the meat-eating equation, then, we do have some responsibility for the existence, the health and the morbidity of the meat producing, supplying and selling industry.  No demand should, with all or most things being equal, choke of production and supply of meat.  The thing is that, with the growth of the meat industry, what might have been

JUST A THOUGHT ON - THE HORROR OF NATIONAL FESTIVALS, FOR ANIMALS FARMED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

So, imagine that you, a human being, have been told that your country is going to be attacked, and that you will have to fight for your life, and will most likely be killed.  What would you, what could you do with such a seemingly horrendous information?  Well, probably everybody who has been given such life-threatening information, would respond to it with a sense of shock, disbelief, and then foreboding.  And, after the probably intuitive shaking of the head, each person would respond according to their circumstances and their character.  With some seeking to leave their country, or move as far away from where the fighting is expected to take place as possible.  While still others might resign themselves to the situation and move to the front-lines, to help to protect their nation.  And now, consider the reality of the lives of our 'domestic' and/or farmed animals, especially during times of meat-eaters' festivals, be they religious, social or otherwise.  'Our anima
