JUST A THOUGHT ON - THE HORROR OF NATIONAL FESTIVALS, FOR ANIMALS FARMED FOR HUMAN CONSUMPTION.

 

So, imagine that you, a human being, have been told that your country is going to be attacked, and that you will have to fight for your life, and will most likely be killed. 

What would you, what could you do with such a seemingly horrendous information? 

Well, probably everybody who has been given such life-threatening information, would respond to it with a sense of shock, disbelief, and then foreboding. 

And, after the probably intuitive shaking of the head, each person would respond according to their circumstances and their character. 

With some seeking to leave their country, or move as far away from where the fighting is expected to take place as possible. 

While still others might resign themselves to the situation and move to the front-lines, to help to protect their nation. 

And now, consider the reality of the lives of our 'domestic' and/or farmed animals, especially during times of meat-eaters' festivals, be they religious, social or otherwise. 

'Our animals', on a daily basis, where they are able to 'intuitively feel or sense it', like with the fear of death much more than us humans. 

Humans do have a limited life-span, but, except in times of wars or, where homicides and the criminal justice system is involved, has much more security of life than 'our animals' do.

This is how it is, with 'our animals' sole purpose for existing, being to that of being bred and nurtured to be slaughtered for food. 

I mean, how poignant is that, that one's sole purpose is primarily to be killed to feed another species?

And so it is, that, if the animals we humans rear to kill and consume, were able to communicate between themselves about their fate. 

Then they would look upon our religious and secular festivals and celebrations, such as it Christmas, Easter, Thanks Giving Day, Ramadan, etc., with the proverbial unspeakable fear. 

They would see these events as approaching massacres of their kind. As humans, whether individually, as families or on an industrial level, indulging in mass killing of them, 'our animals.'

As one who is addicted to eating the flesh of killed animals, I am conflicted. 

Is this the best us humans can do, I ask myself, that we should continue to raise a fellow species mostly to satiate, to gorge ourselves on their flesh, after having taken their lives? 

That we should damage and even destroy our eco-systems in order to bring forth more animal life and increase the magnitude of the slaughtering?

No, it cannot be, but it will take some time for us, our species, to calm the tide of this madness. 

We must educate and encourage the younger generations to move away from, to eschew the eating of the flesh of other animals.  

Which we, our society, has slaughtered to satisfy our rapacious addiction for meat from the bodies of animals we have killed. 

For lives which are not dissimilar from our own, inasmuch as its function is to animate and energises the body, and even though the physical and mental attributes might be different in kind and quality.

Our essential humanity cannot be sustained and retain its assumed status of predatory superiority.  

While we continue to so devalue the lives of other animal species, except in the value of their 'meat', and debase our own, as a direct consequence of the former.

The future of our species, as far as meat consumption is concerned, should be that most of our meat should come from what is grown in an industrial laboratory. The killing of farmed animals for human consumption should, hopefully, within the next 20-30 years, be the exception rather than the norm.
