JAPANES GRAN PRIX - LEWIS HAMILTON ON POLE AT SUZUKA!

Image
It is sometimes said that you have to wait for the right time, or that nothing happens before its time.  Well, it could also be said that there are somethings for which we find it difficult to wait for, resulting in us doing all we can to speed up their occurrence, even if we do not always succeed in doing so. For Lewis Hamilton, one of the the goals which he has been steadfastly trying to achieve, is that of placing his car on Pole at the Suzuka Circuit in Japan.  And achievement which has, equally, steadfastly eluded him. Until now, that is, because, Lewis Hamilton has, in epic proportion, placed Car 44 on Pole for the Japanese Grand Prix of 2017! Well done Lewis and Team Mercedes. You have all dug deep and and come up trumps! A Very Big Congratulation to you both, and, of course, to Valtteri Bottas, for having placed his car atP.2. Although he will have to start the race further down the the positioning, due to a penalty he he has taken. Congratulation also t

JUST A THOUGHT - BRITAINS' CONSERVATIVE PARTY CONFERENCE: IS PRIME MINISTER MAY LEAVING? THE END!

All of which, if we are to go by the perception, by the repeated actions of her Foreign Minister, and by the rumours, is really not the case.  Prime Minister May's current state of health has, unfortunately, let her down during her speech at the Conference.  She had doubtlessly intended for her speech to be an unequivocal expression, assertion even, of her command of authority in the Conservative Party.  And as Britain's Prime Minister, leading from the front and commanding the authority of all of her troops.  And yet, that was not how it came over, because, although the conference gave her a standing ovation, it is difficult to know, to what extent it was an expression of their sympathy towards her and her predicament.  To what extent her symptoms were indications of the immense stress she is experiencing, as she battles for her political survival.  Whether it is an expression of her audience's prescience that Prime Minister May will not continue in

Under military rule, the military knows only too well that the threats to its rule are likely to emanate mainly from the fringes of its area of control.   And it will therefore concentrate on ensuring that it strengthens its defences in those area.  In civil societies, it is true that the danger can arise from anywhere.  But dissatisfaction, tensions and conflicts within the individual regions, which can manifest themselves in terms of geographic, socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and party political issue.  Present the greatest risk to the unity and stability of the state and country. Which is why good and competent governance is so important as a defence against these threats.  Threats which are best prevented by the strength and fairness of the social, political, economic and cultural contract between the state and the people of all the constituent regions.   And by the relative strength of their feeling of loyalty to being integral parts of the national fam

JUST A THOUGHT - WHEN FEAR OF DEATH MAKES AN ASS OF THE LAW, LEADING IT TO DENY PEOPLE A DIGNIFIED DEATH. PART

There are times when it seems, nay, when it is clear that English jurisprudence is no more than the enshrined and codified worldview, weltanschauung, of the ruling political elites.  The most recent example of this defective and biased demonstration of asinine legal judgement, was made clear in Britain on Thursday 5th October 2017.   When 3 so-called eminent High Court Judges, ruled against the plea of a terminally ill man to be allowed to have respectful and dignified death, Mr Noel Conway is a 67 year old man who suffers from motor neurone disease, which is progressively degenerative condition.  According to his Barrister, Mr Richard Garnham, Mr Conway has graphically expressed how his illness causes him to have a feeling of being "entombment."  This is something that anybody with a bit of imagination can fathom.  The feeling of being trapped in a body which no longer responds to your attempts to animate it.  With hands that you can no longer m

JUST A THOUGHT - BRITAINS' CONSERVATIVE PARTY CONFERENCE: IS PRIME MINISTER MAY LEAVING? PART 1.

'The fortunes and reputations of political leaders, great and small, are inextricably linked to the directions and turbulence of the political, social, economic and cultural winds, which gave rise to them.   And to those of succeeding generations and epochs through, through whose lenses and perceptions they are further examined and analysed.' Politics is certainly not a scientific profession or pursuit. It might be cold, calculating and ruthless, Brutusian even, but not scientific. You just often never know what is going to happen next, except that each incumbent of office will, naturally, do their best to cling onto power. And so it is that, as Britain's Conservative Party hold their annual conference, with the intention of setting their course for the next 5 years, the question on everybody's or most pundits' minds, is this:  Is the Prime Minister on her way out?  Is Theresa May's speech, the one which she has purportedly won the accolad

Probably the biggest, or one of the biggest challenges of all contemporary governments.  Is that of how the centre can hold on to making its relevance to the outer reaches of its domain, felt and shared by their inhabitants.  How does the centre, the central government of the country, especially when its land mass is massive, and its people can be counted in their tens and even hundreds of millions?  As is the case with countries such as the United States of America, India, China, Russia, Brazil, Nigeria, and, yes, Spain. How is this  perceived crucial relevance  of the centre, to hold  strongly over all the country, especially the outer reaches.   When, and if, the perception of the people of those areas, it that the centre and its inhabitants, only take from then and give back nothing, or too little?  That they are expected to pay the same amount of tax, and that local natural resources in their areas, are being exploited by the centre.   But that their r

Let us put aside, for awhile, all the handwringing, and all the platitudes about how Americans come together.  As one people, when an avoidable tragedy such as this happens.   To help the families of the dead, the dying and the injured, and show how much they are one family.  Even though it is a family which needs millions of guns to defend itself from other family members.  Yes, let us suspend the sorrow and try to look objectively at what has been and is happening.  After all,  as I have noted, when a child or adult keeps harming him/herself, it is an indication of a serious problem.  And not one which can be dealt appropriately, with by simply repeatedly reassuring them, until the next time.  It requires something more profound to address it appropriately.
