A JAMAICAN CHILDHOOD - REFLECTIONS ON. PART 5.

Image
The family's kitchen was a separate structure, made of bamboo thatching, and its roof made of coconut leave thatching.  The kitchen has an earthen oven and a wood burning fireplace for cooking.   The toilet which Shaka and the family used was situated several yards from both the kitchen and the house.  This was made of board, zinc roof, and had two seats built into a raised counter or platform, situated above a wide hole dug several metres into the ground under it.  A cause of great fear for young children who had to use these toilets, was that they would fall into the cesspit below.  Part of the preparation for using the toilet would be that you acquire some leaves from the surrounding trees, such as coffee trees, to use to wipe yourself.  Going to the toilet during the dark nights would normally require two people, with one remain outside to hold the kerosene lamp. To be continued!

THE MAGNIFICENT MOON GOD!

Image
This is a rather short or long video of the Full Moon, in the sense that it can be seen fully, or more fully than at other times, when it is partly hidden by how it is aligned with the Earth. Do take a look and see what you think. I better experience might be evoked, if you apply some patience to the process. Although the uninitiated among us might oftentimes take the Moon for granted, and demonstrate ignorance towards it value, it is truly like a God in its importance as one of the Planetary bodies which contribute toward the evolution and sustenance of all life.
