The Preyful Blackbird Chick?

Image
When you are living wild in the wild. In a world where being eaten and eating another creature seems to be no more than different sides of the same bond, fence or perceptual mirror.  It becomes of great importance to do what you must do, quickly, and, that when you are young and more vulnerable to becoming prey than predator, you do as your parent tells you and do what they do. But not so for this Blackbird chick, which seems to be spitting on the need to be vigilant and do as mummy says; always.  But today was its lucky day, or, the duration of this video was. But it still poses the question. Is this chick, all things being equal, more likely than its sibling to become a prey?

By increasing the number of statutes by which citizens can be criminalised. So as to provide a sufficient supply of inmates for the prison population.   As we have seen, for example, in the United States of America. The so-called most advanced country in the world.   But also undoubtedly, probably the most retrograde one, when it comes to the manufacturing of criminal laws, and administration of 'crime and punishment.'  Since, not only does it make having more prisoners as a necessity, in order to keep the private companies holding and processing them, and the 'law enforcement departments, in business.  But it also encourages corruption amongst all those involved in the crime and punishment industry, through the quest to generate income and profits. Objectives which they seek to achieve by brutalising inmates and increasing their prospects for having to pursing a criminal career.  By ensuring that inmates being discharged from the prison industry are l

It is not easy, having to be an attentive parent, especially a mother, to a hungry, scared and demanding brood, irrespective of whether you are human, or, as in this case, a Blackbird and her two young chicks. Please take a look and a listen to them, as they indulge, in this short video!

It is somewhat ironic that it is now that we should be experiencing more 'boring races', as there is this greater tendency for main competitors to their positions, as they are unable to overtake their challengers. Not so with the past dominance of Mercedes and Red Bull, when, although it became routine for them to compete with their rivals and prevail, we were still offered the trill of them doing so. Not any more, it seems. It has been probably about 2 years now, since Lewis Hamilton has  lost his tendency to repeatedly make Pole during Qualifying.  By displaying the blisteringly fast and expertly executed pace which has become his hallmark.  Although he is still able to deliver the full package on occasions, he has lost the consistency to do so.  And it is not just about the 'new drivers on the block or grid', having stolen Hamilton's thunder.  It is not just the Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen have been morphed into the younger m

In terms of the harm they have done and/or could do to members of the public and/or the State. Over thousands of years, societies have evolved advanced systems of justice.  Beginning with that where matters of injustice have been resolved by agreement between the families directly affected.   To ones between the different clans or tribes being affected.  To that in which the nation state has becomes the legitimate arbiter of what constitutes lawful and unlawful behaviours, and to being the primary dispenser of 'justice'.  There is now even an International Court of Justice. Yet, notwithstanding this evolution of systems of justice, much of the state's system is still mired in decadent principles and practices of the past.  As we can see from the state resorting to imprisoning high and very high percentages of its citizens, as a normalised method of dispensing justice and punishment. With the rate of recidivism being very high, it is clear that the use of mas

In order to keep the prison industry going, viable even, it is necessary to have as man of the nuisance and 'low value' 'serious offenders' committed to prison as possible.  And, in order to achieve this, the 'be tough on crime and criminals' political and media lobbyists have to be busy.  They might not be vociferous in opposing more liberal approaches towards the running of prisons.   But, on no account do these lobbyists want to see society adopting a more liberal and enlightened approach towards the punishment of crime and the rehabilitation of offenders.  The adoption of one which would result in imprisonment being used less, as a method of punishing people found guilty of committing crimes. With less people being incarcerated. It is not necessarily the case that people need to be incarcerated for even 'serious' offences.  The fact that an offence is serious, and that the offender is demonised for having committing it, does not really

Big Congratulation to Vettel, Bottas and Max and their respective teams Ferrari and Mercedes.  For having converted their respective Pole positions to their equivalent P.1, P.2. and P.3 by the end of the 2018Canadian Grand Prix. Unfortunately for Lewis Hamilton, he was the only odd driver out, having been demoted from P.4 at the beginning of the race, to P5.  With Daniel Ricciardo having capitalised from Mercedes pitstop strategy for Hamilton not proving to have been a successful one.  Apparently due to the precision coordination between Team Mercedes, Hamilton and Car 44, not having been precise enough in its execution. Of course, the lesson which will have been further reinforced by the finishing positions of what was only a marginally less boring race that the Monaco Grand Prix which preceded it.   Is the fact that, being on Pole, specifically, and being one of the 3 Podiumites during Q3 on Saturdays.   Barring any adverse interventions from the gods, no

Until, that is, the onset of AT; the Ascent of Trumpism. Until the reign of President Donald J Trump.   The President who desires and commit himself to do about with 'conventional American orthodoxy, in the pursuance of his goal to 'make America great again.' So, as everybody wait with more than baited breath to see what will become of this 'on-off-on' meeting between President Trump and President Kim Jun-un.  Probably the biggest question is that of: 'what is the United States of America demanding of the North Korean government, and, can that government concede it?  Probably even more importantly, what is the United States promising North Korea for what it is demanding of it? After all, if we are to be guided by the Trump administration's behaviour towards the government and people of Iran.   It is almost inconceivable that, at its core, the Americans will be asking for nothing short of the almost capitulation of the North Korean

Yes, it is one of the impenetrable ironies of 20th and 21st Century international diplomacy.   That it should have taken the very unorthodox President Donald Trump, of the United States of America.   To, at least, possible bring about an improvement of resolution to the nuclear threat which the West perceives, and argues, that the government of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea represents. How can this be, previous President, such as Bill Clinton, the Bushes, and Barak Obama, all of who were perceived as orthodox, responsible and pragmatic world leaders.  Failed to bring about the kind of 'face-to-face' meeting which is due to take place between President Trump and President Kim Jong-un on Tuesday 12th June 2018?  How, indeed; what it is that President Trump has, which his predecessors lacked, either completely or partially?  Has President Donald Trump got an excess of intellect, of leadership quality, of prudence? Is he more motivated by the desire to
