JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE 'DEAL OF THE CENTURY', THE TRUMPING OF KIM JONG-UN. THE END....

Until, that is, the onset of AT; the Ascent of Trumpism. Until the reign of President Donald J Trump.

The President who desires and commit himself to do about with 'conventional American orthodoxy, in the pursuance of his goal to 'make America great again.'

So, as everybody wait with more than baited breath to see what will become of this 'on-off-on' meeting between President Trump and President Kim Jun-un.

Probably the biggest question is that of: 'what is the United States of America demanding of the North Korean government, and, can that government concede it?

Probably even more importantly, what is the United States promising North Korea for what it is demanding of it?

After all, if we are to be guided by the Trump administration's behaviour towards the government and people of Iran.

It is almost inconceivable that, at its core, the Americans will be asking for nothing short of the almost capitulation of the North Korean government.

To their demand for it to give up its nuclear capability, and to stop developing its ballistic missile capability.

The Americans, at least in their posturing, are making it clear that they are not going to remove their troops from South Korea.

As far as that is concerned, they have probably resolved to continue to use South Korea as part of their strategic plans to counter the Russian Federation and China.

It seems likely, there, that the Americans will be arguing for North Korea to sacrifice some or all of its strategic military and security capability.

In return for 'American undertaking' not to attack it; now or in the future. Something which seems quite a high risk, since it is rather like asking the North Koreans to surrender to the Americans and rely on their 'goodwill' in the future.

Providing they, the North Koreans do not misbehave or opposes South ~Korea's limited sovereignty.

And, in return, North Korea can reap the benefit of of 'American largese', by means of the removal of trade, economic and political sanctions. The equivalent of 'food for acceptance of 'democracy.'' 'Guarantee against attack for acceptance of vassalhood.'

Of course, the resolution of the North Korean nuclear issue is certainly not one which can be resolved by a simple meeting between two rather unorthodox and mercurial leaders.

It will need input from the other main players in the region; China and Russia.

Even if 'a deal is made', it could just as easily be 'unmade', which is why it will need the on-going involvement of China and Russia. Especially in terms of its maintenance and impact on the existing strategic balance in the region.

Whatever happens is likely to be a process, instead of a final resolution.
