We left about mid-morning to travel the 112 or so kilometres to the  visit my friend's elderly relative, making better than usual progress along the mainly A roads and motorway.  Arriving earlier than expected, we decided to call in to see my friend's also elderly friend.  Who also happened to be in a nursing home, apparently due to the difficulties in meeting her complex care and medical needs.  My friend has known this lady for many decades, having been treated by her and her now departed partner as if she was a member of their family, as well as being a best friend of their daughter. As we entered the nursing home, reported to and made enquiries at reception, we secured the assistance of a member of staff.   Who made her way, with us trailing behind her, to one of the dining/lounge areas in the large ground floor of what was a large care home complex.  As we approached the area, my friend was the first to spot her friend, whom she greeted, and was hers

To adopt the tactics and strategies which a prudent leader/s of a nation might employ. For the former, the now will probably always be prioritised over the future.   And the more volatile and impulsive amongst them will also be more susceptible to the passionate speeches of their leaders. Be more willing to weaponise themselves and become the means of both their own and others harm and destruction. Including that of the nation. So, the peace and maturity which many Kenyans will desire of compatriots, in them exercising their right to vote and choose their next government, might not be as readily available; not just yet.  How could it be, when one of the two Presidential contenders has instructed his supporters not to vote, and that he is transforming him political party into a resistance movement?  Is he not indicating that, by removing himself from the 'normal' political process, he is assuming that Uhuru Kenyatta will, even if by default, win the election a

For whatever reason, the Kenyan Supreme Court, was due to have another hearing on the legality of the elections, the very day before those elections were due.  Talk about bad timing; about brinkmanship, and lack of sound planning? Anyway, whereas the Court bravely sat and heard the arguements for and against the constitutional legality of the first election, on 2 brave Justices bothered or were able to attend Wednesday's hearing.  A phenomenon which raises many questions. Such as, how in heavens name can you have a situation where 5 Justices failed to turn up for an hearing which has such profound implications for Kenya's political life, its legal life, its national standing?  Such as, has some vested interests placed irresistible pressures on the Justices, which accounted the absented one, and, if so, who are they?  If Kenya's Supreme Court Justices have bow to pressure from unknown or known dark forces, then, has it not also lost its credibility to 

The Kenyan electorate needs to be able to fairly and peacefully exercise their comparatively democratic right to determine which of the two main political contenders, Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, should form the next government.  The last 'legal' Presidential elections resulted in violently contested results, which saw widespread bloodletting, displacement of people through fear, and destruction of property, after the elections.  The crisis was eventually resolved through what could be considered a truce between the same contenders, and a compromised power sharing, with Uhuru being becoming the President and Raila the Vice President. With Hamilton having become the 'hare' who nobody could catch, the real competition, as it were, was taking place between Bottas, Raikonnen, Vettel and Verstappen.  Vettel made somewhat of a quick work of overtaking the opposition and placing himself firmly in P.2 position by the end of the race.  And, with Bottas, probably somewhat surprisingly and with the negative effect of the racing strategy he was given, falling back, as he was overtaken by the other 3 contenders.   P.3 was left to be decided between Verstappen and Raikonnen.  With Verstappen having had to 'go off-track', as it were, to over-take the unyielding Raikonnen during the final lap, he was deemed to have infringed the rules and had a 5 second penalty served on him.  The result of which was that, he was poignantly demoted to P.4, which meant that the Ice Man, who diligently observed the rules, was reinstated to P.3.  As much as it is fascinating to watch Verstappen displaying his spe
