Some people might be forgiven, if they were to begin to wonder whether Lewis Hamilton has an investment - other than that of winning it - in the operations of the United States Grand Prix.  Well, it might be doubtful, but it really does not matter, as, even if he did, his penchant for winning this Grand Prix would be an excellent advertising for it.  Quite simply, Lewis is and has, it seems, made winning the United States race one of his favourite pastime. Notwithstanding the usual DNFs, which, included the unfortunate Alonso, who had just renewed his contract with McLaren. The American government should remember that it bears primary responsibility for the on-going conflict and blood letting and destruction in the Middle East.  Due to it having invaded Iraq, which President Trump has acknowledged, should not have happened. And that there is no likelihood of any peace and stability in the region while the American Eagle continues to wreak havoc there. But without realising any constructive objectives.  With it only succeeding in destroying but not building. Creating instability but not stability. Making more enemies and not friends.  Earning disrespect and contempt and not respect and admiration. Sebastian Vettel is a man who has been, he might be thinking, denied crucial points for too many races.  A man whose attempts to win the 2017 Formula 1 Championship, had, earlier, look very strong, but had, due to misfortune and unreliability of his car's performance, imploded.  Seb is a man who is, who has to be inspired by a certain urgency, a certain desperation, even.   And a strong hope that the gods and good fortune will turn their backs on Lewis, and throw thunderbolts and spikes in his progress to the Championship.  And yet, Seb might find that, for the gods and good fortune to turn on their apparently most favoured, the golden child even, he and Ferrari would have to offer them some inducement, some sacrifice.  But what would the gods ask of them, and, more to the point, would they be able to deliver it? When we become too predictable at doing well what we normally do, we and others can become complacent and a bit blase about it.  It is like, 'well, no surprise there, it was, after all, expected.' Sentiments which, if you like, can and does take away something from what is still a real achievement for the person/s who keep putting in these winning performances. The main focus of the operation was not to liberate the civilian population of Raqqa, but to deprive 'Islamic State' of its symbolic and strategic importance.
