JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON LIVING IN THE CULTURAL BORDERLANDS OF THE MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY! THE END......

As the hope of a new life, free of the privations of economic blight attracts hundreds of thousands, millions of people from the desperate regions of the world to Europe and the United States of America.  To be met by the fear and rejection of many of the latter's people.  It is important to be mindful of the fact that people are resources with which and who are capable of building a stronger and more inclusive nation.  If they are prudently assimilated and led into doing so. This is probably it is no easy matter living the live of  a living hero. It surely is the case that it is easier to be a dead hero than a living one.  Since it is likely to be no more than a matter of time, before all heroes  are revealed as no more than mere mortal.  It is thin boundary separates a national hero from becoming failed national leader.  They are, or could be, just different sides of the same coin.  As we have seen from Robert Mugabe, from Daniel Ortega, Eduardo dos Santos  to some extent, from Fidel Castro, Nicolas Maduro, Jacob Zuma, et al. It is said that the 'good die young', but, if that is so, although both the good and the bad die at all ages. Then, the good reputation of heroes is likely to become more compromised the longer they live.  Probably mostly because of the improbability of them being able to satisfy the expectations which the masses place on them.  To transform their undesirable conditions and realities, into more favoura

I am not sure if this is only something which is specific to me and/or others who do not live inn the lands of the great and famous.  The countries of birth of the Nelson Mandelas, the Simon Bolivars, the Mao Zedong.   The Amilcar Cabral, the Agostinho Netos, the Nkrumahs, the Jerry Rawlings, the Thomas Sankaras, the Fidel Castros.   The George William Gordons, the Nannys and Paul Boggles. The Vladimir Lenins, the Hugo Chavezes.  The Norman Manleys and the Bustamantes and Lumumbas. And the countless other heroes, demi-gods and personified evil men and women who have blessed their people with their courage and inspiration.  Or cursed them with their inhumane actions. Or both. Yes, I am not sure if it is only to me, that the memories of such men and women, and the deeds they have done or inspired to be carried out, seem to be forever fading.  No sooner than they have departed this world. I am not sure if this is why 'heroes' must seek to immortalise themsel

JUST A THOUGHT - LIVE YOUR LIFE AS FULLY AS YOU CAN; WHEN ITS DONE, ITS DONE! THE END....

In death, there is no status differentiation between those who had thoroughly enjoyed their living, even to excess, when they were alive.   And those who had had to endure great sacrifices and miserable lives.  Since, it is in death that all humans are truly equalised. At least, outside of the religious remits which seek to perpetuate human suffering beyond the grave, or, if you like, our temporality.  Or to excuse human suffering in this and the only certain life, with the promise of pleasure in the uncertain next life. Whatever pleasure and enjoyment, or pain and misery, which us humans do and must entertain or suffer.  Can only befall us during our life's journey.  It therefore behoves us, the living, to be primarily motivated by the 'carrot of pleasure and enjoyment.'   By fun, to become the disciples of pleasure, during our brief time upon the Earth.  To seek after both simple and complex pleasure, which does not have to be paid for by the p

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE SECRET LIVES OF HUMANS! THE END...

In effect, despite the increasing calls and demands for transparency between peoples, it is arguable that 'normal relationships' would not and cannot be maintained without us keeping  secrets . Many of us would probably not eat process foods and drinks, if we were to be inundated with how they are made.  Many of us would probably not eat mass produced meat, if we were to be inundated with how how the animals are reared.  We would not or find it difficult to eat farm crops, if we knew more about the effect, on living organisms, including humans, of the manufactured chemicals used in their production. Similarly, we would find it more difficult to maintain personal relationships.  If we were to share all our fears, our anxieties, our damaging mistakes and experiences with our loved ones.  As well as  others who have power over us, or whom we have power over and/or  responsibility for. In order for us to maintain reasonably stable and secure relationshi

Endeavouring to convey the appearance that he/she is being open, honest and transparent in all aspects of their relationship.  Which is most probably a lie. Because it is in the nature of us humans that we do  keep secrets  from others, including our nearest and dearest.  Lovers keep secrets from their partners. Parents keep secrets from their children and their partners.  Relatives keep secrets from other relatives. Friends keep secrets from their friends. Adults keep secrets from other adults.  Manufacturers and producers keep secrets from their customers. Governments keep secrets from the people.  And all is done for a variety of reasons. With the most frequent and significant ones being to protect somebody from further harm and pain; including, at times, the holder of the secrets.  Secrets are kept for reasons of feelings of guilt, as protection from feared retribution, real or perceived. As a means of preventing further pain, emotional, financial o
