JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE SECRET LIVES OF HUMANS! PART 2.

Endeavouring to convey the appearance that he/she is being open, honest and transparent in all aspects of their relationship. 

Which is most probably a lie. Because it is in the nature of us humans that we do keep secrets from others, including our nearest and dearest. 

Lovers keep secrets from their partners. Parents keep secrets from their children and their partners. 



Relatives keep secrets from other relatives. Friends keep secrets from their friends. Adults keep secrets from other adults. 

Manufacturers and producers keep secrets from their customers. Governments keep secrets from the people. 

And all is done for a variety of reasons. With the most frequent and significant ones being to protect somebody from further harm and pain; including, at times, the holder of the secrets. 






Secrets are kept for reasons of feelings of guilt, as protection from feared retribution, real or perceived. As a means of preventing further pain, emotional, financial or physical. 

As a way of avoiding adding to the burdening of others, especially when it is feared that they can do little or nothing to really help. 

Living secret lives is also a necessary condition for the facilitation of relationships between individuals, groups of people, societies and countries.
