HILLARY CLINTON'S EMAIL CONTROVERSY - JUST A THOUGHT!

Image
Morality has never had a secure place in politics, and never will. Now, it really is the case that Donald Trump and Fox News and all or most of Hillary Clinton's detractors are, understandably, out to milk the controversy surrounding her email/server controversy, for all the political capital they can ring from it. What is at stake, the media and Donald Tump and the Republicon establishment would have us believe, is the matter of whether Hillary Clinton is trustworthy, honest and above ill-repute. Can se be trusted by the American electorate, they are asking. Is she a honest person, they are also asking, as if politicians, especially those who have been in politics for decades, are known for their trustworthiness and honesty. As if one would ask a man or a woman who is a parent, if they are virgins, or a veteran who has been in several wars if he/she knows what to do  in war. These things are all taken as given. So, let us say, that Hillary Clinton, as Donald Tru

A THOUGHT FOR NOW - PONDERING THE PLIGHT OF THE SOUTHERN HEMISPHERIANS!

Image
Many of the world's poor do not have the choice of making the journey to the safer and more prosperous world they aspire towards. As we look to the southern hemisphere, we are regularly reminded of the precariousness of the living of probably most of the people living in the countries of that part of the globe. Countries where natural and human-made disasters are not only frequent occurrences, but are expected with resignation. With resignation, because the people are feeling powerless to defend themselves against the ferociousness and/or unremitting nature of some of these 'natural phenomena', be they floods, landslides, droughts, or earthquakes, and tend to place their fate in the hands of the gods. Lands where people have retreated to living precariously on the sides of mountains, because of the absence of flat and fertile land, and thereby make themselves vulnerable to landslides. As we can see in places like Napal, Brazil, parts of China, Pakistan, Colombia, et

Feeling As Free As The Birds We Are!

Image
Oh, my, it is so so great being up here feeling, well, very flighty, and enjoying the the sights and feeling the cool breeze against our feathers, as we two take it all in! We can imagine that there are times when the humans would love to have wings of the personal kind! Yes, this is another short video of two Magpies, the kind of birds that can be in your face, but also has a certain appeal which commands ones notice. Take a contemplative look; if you will, and enjoy!

JEREMY CORBYN AND THE BRITISH LABOUR PARTY - A DESTRUCTIVE RELATIONSHIP?

Image
The Labour Party's present leader is too heavily weighted in the past, and not suited to be a leader of the present or the future, but loves power too much to see clearly and act prudently. Jeremy Corbyn, the British people and the world are being told, is earmarked to be re-elected as leader of the British Labour Party, by an increased percentage of the Party's member. So, if the polls proved accurate, what should people make of that eventuality, which, except for the Corbynites within and outside of the Labour Party, would be perceived as a very unfortunate and probably disastrous event? Should it, in the event it happens, be taken as an indication of Jeremy Corbyn's increased popularity amongst the British people? Certainly not. Should it be seen as indication that Jeremy Corbyn, for all his proneness to slipping on banana skins and avoidably punching himself in his face and head, and scoring own goals, as it were, is probably the most popular of the Labour

Captured Sun!

Image
Here is a short video of the setting Sun, seen through the fluttering leaves lenses of a tree in the foreground. You are invited to take a look at it and, if you are so inclined, ponder it contemplatively. Enjoy!

A THOUGHT FOR NOW - FIND TIME TO MERGE WITH TIME AND SPACE!

Image
So, consider this, if you will. Us humans sometimes remind me of ants and bees, those most industrious of our lower ranking creature, but who, like us reputedly higher functioning creatures, are always very busy carrying out purposeful activities. Like ants and bees, are we prone to beaver away at our jobs, with some of us doing 2 or more jobs, trying to earn enough money to pay our bill and, if we are lucky, to save to do the things we need to do to endeavour to realise our aspirations. But, of course, some of us do not have to do 2 or 3 jobs to earn enough money to meet our essential bills, pay for the massive mortgage which we have yoked ourselves with, and the instalments for the car and the yacht which sets us apart from the rest, but also ensure that our jobs own us. No, one job is enough because it pays us a great deal of money and makes us feel as if we are, well, irreplaceable. And so we must work, work, work nearly all the hours of the day, and, for some o

TAKING A WALK AROUND WALL, UNITED KINGDOM

Image
The small village of Wall is located in the English shire county of Staffordshire, not too far from the even more historically significant town of Lichfield. Wall is very small, but its significance in the history of the British Isles is probably of greater importance than some large towns. A view of part of the surrounding area, from the vantage point of Wall. History has it that Wall was a small but important town during the Roman conquest of Britain, with the village having been a valuable staging post along the main road leading from London - Londinium - and the more northernly Roman settlements. The Roman antecedent of Wall - Letocetum - is believed to have been settled by the Romans in about AD 50, less than 10 years after the Romans landed in London.  It is said to have then gradually lost its importance, as the Romans focused their activities more in their larger settlement in the Lichfield area. Some of the excavated Roman ruins at Wall The Roman

Flight of Ducks Being Consumed By The Sun?

Image
The is a short video, with the first few seconds being probably the most dramatic, as there is the appearance  of the flight of ducks heading into the bright Sun and being consumed. I would have loved to have capture more of this spectacular event, but, I guess you cannot have it all; especially when I did not make adequate preparations. Probably next time, eh? Take a look and enjoy, even if not quite amazed by it.

THE SOCIAL WORKER. PART 7

Image
Adequate recording will help the social worker and others to see the trees for the wood and make sense of what is being done. Making and maintaining adequate and upto date caserecording on each case, is of vital importance for the social worker, their service-users or clients, and the social worker's employing agency. Part of the importance of this is that, in the eventuality of something going seriously wrong in the case, such as a complaint from the service user, or a child suffering serious harm, the service user's case files will become crucial to the resultant investigation. The social worker should also find that, in formulating and recording his/her case records, they will have the opportunity to reflect on what had taken place, and help them to analyse and improve how they carry out their work. Because of the usually high and competing demands on their time, it is therefore quite easy for social workers to have some cases which are not being given any consis

A THOUGHT FOR NOW - LIVING, AND NOT LIFE, MIGHT BE SACRED AND WORTH OF PRESERVATION!

Image
The issue of 'assisted dying' previously known as euthanasia, is one which is capable of provoking a lot of emotions. This is probably not all that surprising, as humans do tend to have a strong yearning to live for a very long time, with some of us even aspiring to live forever, if we could, or if the eternal life which the gods are reputed promised the faithful, is really true. The religious, at least, the Christian, take on the issue of 'assisted dying', is that all human life is worthy of being preserved, and that it would be wrong for other humans to intervene and help someone who has concluded that their best interest lies in them dying at a time and place of their choosing, is and would be wrong. If I cannot feel excitement and have fun, then, though there might be life in me, I am not living, because I cannot claim and put to work the life in me to do the things I would have done to enjoy living. By the same token, there is a presumpti
