JUST A THOUGHT - ON 'THE CONSCIENTIOUS BLACK MAN'S BURDEN'! PART 1.

Image
Yes, of course it is not only the 'conscientious White Man' who has a burden to carry, even though we often hear the phrase being used in that context.  That of the proverbial 'White Man' carrying the burden of his 'race', for all the harm their ancestors have done and said and known to have done to other 'races', such as the 'black race.'  No, it is certainly not only the 'white race' which is capable of doing bad things, even if Hitler's Third Reich might have suggested that that is so.  No, sir/madam. Even if 'other races' might not have actually matched Hitler's Third Reich excesses.   We only have to look to the enormity of Pol Pot's barbarity towards his fellow Cambodians.   As he attempted to achieve what would have been the 'robotisation' of all Cambodians, except for the leadership cadre.  Or we could look to former Hutu Regime in Rwanda, in their attempt to exterminate al

Never do they acknowledge how bored and lonely I must be feeling, having already made the Earth and all the Multiverses.   And now having some little to do with my endless time, but to watch over them.  As they struggle to survive, as they consistently sought to destroy each other.  So, returning to question of the purpose for the existence of humans. Well, probably humans need to consider the purpose they have given for my existence.  Do you not think so, T? T.: Absolutely, L.G. As the saying goes, you cannot please everybody, atleast, not all the time, and, sometimes, nobody at all.  Even if the believers and/or the faithful might believe that you have the power to do so. It must be terribly for you, especially considering how the faithful, though occasionally citing you as a vengeful God, consistently make you out to be the virtue of all that is good. L.G.: Lord, for crying out loud, T! That is precisely so.  For, how much greater must be my guilt - if

AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY AGEING AND EVOLVING MOTHER! PART 23.

Image
Even when they, changes, have been made, if they are not nurtured and consolidated, thing will, in time, return to their original state. I suspect that my dear mother's unhappy childhood, has, in part, been a result of the 'skin colour/shade hierarchy.'  Which has and continues to be one of the sad and poignant legacy of the colonial the slave-ocratic and colonial history of the country of her birth.  It is an ambivalent perspective which is not unique to the country of her birth, but, it seems, to all post-slaveocratic and colonial societies. But let us not delve into such pathos too deeply. After all, my intention was, and remains that of revisiting my past to recall times when she had and demonstrated the authority which has clearly eludes her now.  And which she clearly resents not being able to exercise as she would like to exercise it. Of course it is not surprising that my dear mother should be feeling the level of dissatisfaction,

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON HOW ALL THINGS ARE THEORETICALLY POSSIBLE, SOME ARE DESIRABLE, BUT ALL ARE NOT PROBABLE! THE END...

The same might be said of the horrendous wars which afflict the human condition.  To what extent might it be argued that wars will all be a feature of our, human's life and existence, and that it might also be a positive thing, in helping to control our population?  Even thought the means, methods and 'collateral damage' involved in wars, are probably indefensible, and that wars should be made more humane?  Just as how we must resign ourselves, if not accept that death is our collective destiny.   And that where we need to try to acquire and exercise more control, is not in attempting to prevent death, or in some cases, to delay it at any cost.   But rather, in how all or most of us, can have the 'best process of dying.' Dying with less pain, and sorrow for the living. Utopia might well be possible, but it is unattainable for all of us, as a sustainable state of being.  And us humans are fated to have to experience pain and happin

owohrod.blogspot.com Who among us would not aspire for famine, disease epidemic, droughts, tsunamis and poverty to become things of the past? Probably none or not many of us.  But how probable is it that these conditions or states of being can or will ever be banished from of the face of the Earth? Highly unlikely I would say.  And even if they were probable, what might the consequences of that, if they are no longer there to serve whatever negative and positive functions they are serving? Is it the case that all of these apparent man-induced and natural tragedies serve 'no purpose', or, rather positive purpose?  Are famines as much a population reducer as it is a tragic destroyer of human lives?  Can it ever be considered a positive way of the laws of survival intervening, so as to prevent the relentless increase in the local population.   And, eventually, the destruction of their habitat and their/our extinction?  And, might floods and droughts and

owohrod.blogspot.com L.G.: Yes, quite so, T. It seems to me that either the believers have failed to consider what I might be doing with my endless amount of time.  Or the make foolish assumptions about me. Which is probably not all that surprising, as I cannot be more than an imaginary 'God' to them.  They see me as their protector, and imagine that I am always seeing each and every human, as well as other things, upon the face of the Earth.  They ask me to protect them from dangers and threats, some of which they bring onto themselves.  And when I fail to intervene to protect them, they either imagine that they must or might have done something to deserve their unfortunate faith. Or they imagine that I have forsaken them. T.: It seems that you, L.G., is having to carry an even bigger Cross than your purported Son, Jesus Christ? L.G.: Yes, T! I am having to carry a terribly heavy Cross, and impossible responsibility for meeting the expectations of

BIRD-WATCHING AND LOOKING BEYOND THE VISIBLE

This is a short video of some regular birds perching on one of their favourite trees, enjoying the Sun and indulging in some happy chorus. With the distant white cloud  speckled blue Sky, interspacing the infinity that lies in the beyond! Please have a look and a listen and, should you find it to be so, do enjoy!

T.: We have been conditioned to praise you for everything which is good about and around us, L.G., and for everything good which has happened to us.  To give you credit for all that is good in the world, and to take the blame for all that is corrupt, rotten and pernicious.  This is how it has always been, L.G, and how it will probably continue to be. Unless more of us humans question and challenge what the ancients have written about you.  L.G.: For Christ's sake, T. What are you on about; are you really serious? Do you mean that humans are of the view that I am like a Saint; that they have put me on a pedestal?  Is my boredom not already a too heavy burden for me to carry, and to do so for eternity? T.: I can readily understand, or think I can understand your situation, L.G.  It certainly is not one that I would like to have to contend with; especially on a forever basis. It might well be that the imaginary perception that we, others, have of you, L

L.G.: Well, T. Just reflect on the life of an ordinary human; probably you. What do you do with your time; how do you spend your days, and what have you learnt and experience by way of your living upon the Earth? T.: Mmmm! Do you want the long or the short answer, L.G. Well, probably the short answer would be that I have found that living, for the ordinary or average human is about learning daily routines.  And the long answer would be that us humans repeat these routines on a daily basis throughout our lives on Earth. L.G.: So, T. Considering that, what do you imagine my routine to be? What do you imagine that I do with my endless days?  T.: To be honest, L.G. I have never thought of that, probably beyond the narrow and paranoid fashion in which most or all humans, depending on their age, intellect and upbringing, have thought of you. L.G.: Elaborate, T. What do you mean by paranoid fashion? T.: You know, L.G. Those of us who believe in or have believed in you,

JUST A THOUGHT - ON LIAM NEESON'S CONTROVERSIAL COMMENT ABOUT RACE! THE END....

Image
As he had noted, he grew up in Northern Ireland, so, if we are not to emulate Liam's 'irrational' response to the tragedy, we need to have a look at factors in his life which might have led to him nearly committing another tragedy.  How he might have succumbed to the urge for revenge. There is, in Northern Ireland, the history of bigotry between Catholics and Protestants.  Old Northern Ireland has been a good breeding ground for 'racial', or, if you like, 'religious profiling.'  As Liam Neeson is reported to have said, we all indulge in 'racial profiling.' The difference is that he has been honest in admitting to it.  Which suggests that, instead of taking 'a shock horror response' to what he has said.  It might be more productive to use what he has said to begin a honest debate about his experience of these issues.  And how they have also impact on others of us, who would prefer not to own up to them. Should he be
