JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON HOW ALL THINGS ARE THEORETICALLY POSSIBLE, SOME ARE DESIRABLE, BUT ALL ARE NOT PROBABLE! PART 3.

owohrod.blogspot.com

Who among us would not aspire for famine, disease epidemic, droughts, tsunamis and poverty to become things of the past? Probably none or not many of us.

But how probable is it that these conditions or states of being can or will ever be banished from of the face of the Earth? Highly unlikely I would say.

And even if they were probable, what might the consequences of that, if they are no longer there to serve whatever negative and positive functions they are serving?

Is it the case that all of these apparent man-induced and natural tragedies serve 'no purpose', or, rather positive purpose?

Are famines as much a population reducer as it is a tragic destroyer of human lives?

Can it ever be considered a positive way of the laws of survival intervening, so as to prevent the relentless increase in the local population.

And, eventually, the destruction of their habitat and their/our extinction?

And, might floods and droughts and tsunamis some of the mechanisms by which this process occurs?

And so, it seems to me, that, while it might be possible for humans to be free of famine, disease epidemics and many, if not most of the despicable terrors which afflict our living.

There is no clear case that such an achievement would be a desirable one.

To be continued!
