Would it be to the advantage of the country, if Jamaicans were to negotiate a consensus between their warring PNP and JLP political parties.  Outlining national objectives and the fundamental direction of forward travel on which they are both agreed?   Better serve all or more of the people and provide them with more stability, jobs and security. Yes, it is a fact that the opportunity of having a job or legal means of establishing and maintaining a reasonable lifestyle, is a fundamental human requirement.  Although it does not 'justify' or excuse anybody complaining that they have to steal other people's property or commit violent acts against them, in order to live and feed their families.  Anybody who put forward such a case, should ask themselves the following questions:  How can it every be justified, that my only means of living should be the robbing and/or harming, murdering of another human?  What would that say of my humanity? Are Jamaicans more disciplined, respectful and civil in how they conduct themselves, now, as opposed to in the past?  Do they ordinarily, have as much pride in being Jamaicans and living in Jamaica, as they and/or their parents and grandparents had in the past?  And, if so, what is it about Jamaica that they have pride in; is it something real or mythical?  Something substantial, tangible, or a reputation which is now no longer grounded in what has become of Jamaica and her people?  And, if Jamaicans, in the main, now have less pride in their country, meaning the sum of the Island, its government and its people, then, why is that; and how can it be put right? I proceeded to wade through the swollen waters of the river, and was quickly knocked off my feet, and began the terrifying and panic-stricken  process of drowning.  The process of 'now you see me, now you don't' dance of death, as I was swept downstream.  Fortunately, this caring and courageous woman, who might have had her eye on me, and thinking that I would not enter the swiftly flowing waters.   Must have looked around just in time, and noticed that I had disappeared. If she had shouted to me not to enter the river, I cannot recall. And now, with me having suddenly disappeared, and looking downstream, she must have seen me flailing about, and rushed to my rescue.  Removing me from a near death situation, she took me to my shocked mother.  Who has since related to me how my near tragic demise came to have been.  I do not recall the details of what took place after I was rescued.  But it is due to the quick thinking and courage of this

Could it be that the inequality and oppression which women continue to confront on a daily basis.  The Christian sermons about 'wives having to obey them husbands', 'servants their masters.'   Have, if not their origins, then their 'religious legitimisation', in the the Christian God having used his/her/?
