LEWIS HAMILTON - CANADIAN GRAND PRIX : WIN AND DEDICATE TO MUHAMMAD ALI?

Image
Having recently had his first Grand Prix win in the 2016 Formula 1 season, Lewis Hamilton is back on  the track tomorrow, to compete for the Canadian Grand Prix. Canada has, over the years been good to Hamilton and has awarded his track mastery with several wins. Success, it is said, feeds on itself and breeds further success, which is something Hamilton will most likely use to fortify himself, as he psyhe up himself for tomorrows race.  Yet, repeated success can also makes a person arrogant and complacent, which, arguably, Hamilton might have been, towards the end of the 2015 Formula One season, and which might or might not have cost him the momentum to launch himself into the 2016 season. Hamilton's fans and many of us who enjoy Formula 1 races would be buzzing if he were to add another Canadian F1 race to his already increasing tally. However, if he is to do so, he will be going some way to placing himself in a winning frame of mind, by removing any build up of arrogan

MOUNT SNOWDONIA - MAKING IT TO THE TOP; THE EASIER WAY.

A JAMAICAN CHILDHOOD - PT.5

Image
By way of recalling his account of his Jamaican children, or, more accurately, his childhood in his native Jamaica, Shaka continues to give an account of the significance of some of the villagers in helping to shape his life, as he and his brothers continue to make their way to the hills above their village.   Just opposite the school is the second of the 3  public stand pipes serving the village, including the pupils from the school.  As they made their way up the sloping hill, Shaka and his brothers passed the little occasional Ice Cream and Snowball parlour just to their right.  This parlour constituted a small timber and zinc roofed building, with  a saw-dust insulated ice box, and selves for the different flavoured syrup to make the snow-balls.  The owner of the shop was a young man who had a bicycle, one of only a few in the village, which made it a prized possession. He is a man for whom Shaka has a lot of regards, as, at Shaka's mother request, this man lent his bi

Here is a video of some Tits having a chirpy morning feeding session; and doing so rather excitedly. Have a look and take a bit of time to sync in time and space with them and enjoy the experience. Birds feeding and having fun.

HAMAS AND ISRAEL - MUTUAL ALLIES IN OPPRESSING THE PALESTINIANS?

Image
Hamas' latest outrage is the slaughtering of 4 innocent Israelis and the injuring of 6 or more others.  What can be the motive behind this latest outrage? Could it be that these innocent Israelis were not, after all, innocent? Probably because they were Israelis, and, ipso facto, guilty of being enemies of the Palestinians? Or, could it be that these 10 Israelis were under-cover  security agents? Striving for a garden of peace? Well, it is quite possible that some of them might have been, to some measure, eyes of the state, considering that national service is a requirement in Israel. However, the basic premis is that these Israelis were innocent civilians out enjoying themselves, when the were slaughtered by these Daesh-like Palestinians, who, for reasons many can understand, have lost their humanity, making them undifferentiated from the kind of Israelis who devised and implemented Israel's brutal strategy during the last Gasa/Israel War. The point is that, th

IT BEGINS WITH A BREAM - TAKING THE CAN DO APPROACH

It begins with a Dream is the first book written and published by "Success Forever", which is Life Coaching enterprise established by the author, H Reid. The book can be obtained from Amazon. Although this book is not really of the Martin Luther King mold, it does have some similarity, in that the basic tenet of the book is its strong belief that the human's mind, or his/her ability to think positively and constructive, is a vital factor realising ones goals. The book provides a refreshing and positive approach towards how we live our lives, and a strong belief in the perspective that, 'thinking it' is a quintessential ingredient in making your dreams a reality. If you will, buy this book and read it and make up your own mind about it.

CHILDHOOD'S CHALLENGES

Image
Over the years, indeed, over the centuries, adults have decided what childhood should be about, including its duration and how children spend it. Childhood is, in many countries, influenced, if not determined by social, economic, cultural and political factors. This happens not only in the so-called less developed or developing countries, but also in the more technologically advanced ones, such as Britain, Europe and America. Of course, it is not surprising that it is the adults who should, in the first instance, decide what childhood should be about, probably except with regards to the physiological and neurological aspects of it.  Yes, childhood, it seems to me, has a number of tasks or challenges to complete. I see these as including the role of childhood as a period to enable the child to accomplish his/her physiological and neurological development; at least as far as these tasks can be accomplished in ones childhood. For the child to be able to progress to health adulthood

IS LONDON, UK, REALLY BECOMING A COLONY OF THE OBSCENELY RICH FOREIGN ROBBER BARONS?

Image
Public spaces should be protected as a human rights issue? Now, I am not sure if RT - Russian Television channel - is right about this, and, if so, the extent to which they are accurate, but, on 07/06/2016, there was a report on the channel, stating that London's previous public spaces, including parks, are increasingly becoming privitised spaces, which are owned by foreign investors and governments. Can this really be the case, that, without many of London's residents and the British people in general, being aware of it, the very roads on which they walk in London, and the very parks and open spaces on which they might sit to rest their tired and weary legs and enjoy a beautiful sunny day and inhale the joys of Spring and visual verdance and colours of Summer, is being privatised? First the local authorities in Britain's capital and central government allowed the local residents of the country's Capital to be priced out of the housing market by an influx; yes,

LIFE IS FOR LIVING ENJOYABLY - DO NOT MYSTIFY IT

Image
And so, humans finding themselves being capable of conscious thought and the ability to reflect on their past, while being contemplative of their future, and marvelled  at this and the universe in which we find ourselves. How beautiful, is our refrain, as we observe the apparent symmetry in our observable world. As we, or rather our ancestors marvel at the light and the life enabling powers of the Sun, of the Moon and of the constellation of the stars, and witness the crucial role of the seasons, it probably was only logical that their perception of what they could see and contemplation of what they could not see, would have soon enough, given birth to the then apparently 'rational belief', but now apparently 'illogical belief' that there was some unseen master at work. Humans or rather, the sages, the soothsayers, the holy men, et al, et al, amongst them, went in search of the 'unseen master', the supposed 'creator' of this cleverly and masterly

BREXIT AND MORE WARS IN EUROPE BECOMES MORE LIKELY - BRITAIN AND EU NEEDS EACH OTHER

Image
T he British people are still seemingly in disarray about whether they should or should not leave the European Union, with the pro-Union advocates citing the likely major adverse economic, political and social cost of Britain leaving, while the Brexiters or those who are advocating Britain leaving, citing the prospects of the country being able 'to make a fresh start', with, as it were, 'the world being Britain's oyster', with it being able to establish trade agreements and protocols with whichever country or groups of countries it considers it advantageous to do so, including her former EU partners, while retaining most of the advantages of EU membership, and freeing itself of most, if not all of its bureaucratic encumberment.  S o, as far as the Brexiters are concerned, Britain, upon leaving the European Union, will be able to position itself to have the best of both or all the worlds. A JAMAICAN CHILDHOOD - PT.4

Image
In this part of the story about his childhood in Jamaica, as Shaka and his brothers make their way towards the hills overlooking their village, Shaka recalls some of the events and feelings which might have helped to shape him into becoming the person he is today. Still benefiting from the coolness of preceding dawn, Shaka and his brothers, N and G, travelled along the main road,  bypassing the local Infant school, and continued up the gradually inclined road and bearing right as they bypassed the communal stand pipe to their left, which some people would use when they could not get clean water from the two rivers, and the first (bottom shop) of the 4 main grocery shops which, at one time or another, served the district, before heading towards the mid-point of the road, where they passed Mas Asie’s house on the right, and Mas Joe’s on the left, but not observable from the road, and  Miss May’s shop on the right, and another little shop on the left, which their mother would later

K & M'S WEDDING RECEPTION - A VERY ENTERTAINING AND ENJOYABLE OCCASION!

Image
And so it was that, having spent months looking forward to M and K's wedding reception, members of my family and I made the long awaited trip along 3 motorways and a not so straightforward A road to the idyllic setting of the Mallory Court Hotel, in Leamington Spa, not being quite sure how this event would turn out. Having consulted Google Maps in planning our route, I was satisfied that that it would be a very straightforward journey, with us exiting the M40 at J14, following the A452 for about 3 roundabouts and, hey presto, there we should be, at the Mallory Court Hotel. I imagined that, as we travelled down Harbury Lane, there would be this Hotel by the road, beckoning to visitors, here I am, you cannot possibly miss we.  The reality, however, was quite different. Firstly, finding Harbury Lane was not as easy as I had anticipated, despite my careful planning, and, secondly, the Mallory Court Hotel, being in a gated enclosure concealed by the leafy country lane, and  the
