Consider the saturation media coverage which was being given to the refugee crisis, that was, and is still impacting on the countries surrounding Syria, Yemen, Libya and other North and Sahel African countries since at least 2012.  Except for the occasional reports in some of the media, and the more frequent reports from the more concerned sections of the media, we are not hearing much of what is taking place.  Yes, there are the reports about hundreds of refugees still dying in the waters of the Mediterranean, but not much else.  Indeed, many of us might be forgiven for thinking that the 'migration and refugee crisis which has been affecting Europe for the past several years. Has finally been resolved and is no longer a matter of serious concern.

So, taking your way of life with you is understandable and 'natural.'  This cultural, political and social transplantation is both evidence of colonisation and domination. As well been part of the process by which different societies develop and make advances in the world. But their are serious downsides to it, which is why contemporary societies need to regulate it, so as to avoid future conflict. So, like Female Genital Torture, which is practised in some societies. As Venezuela 'burns', both figuratively and actually, with massive race overtaking the people of the country. Its leader, Nicolas Maduro, continue to act as if he inhabits a different reality. As if he exists in a time and space which makes him unable to see, hear or feel what is becoming of Venezuela. He seems to be 'shielded' from the misery and destruction which eating away, relentlessly, at the very heart and soul of the nation' its people. Although priding himself as a 'Chavistas Revolutionary', Nicolas Maduro seems oblivious to the fact that the 'real revolution' in Venezuela, is taking place on the country's streets, in people's homes and places of work and learning. It has been said, that you can remove a people or a person from an undesirable situation, but you cannot remove the imagery of the undesirable situation which they take with them. This paradox is one which can pose great danger for both the immigrant and for the host country which he/she intends to adopt as their new home.  Because, not only will the immigrant has a tendency to bring what is good about the things which have formed their identities, but also things which are not desirable.  And are likely to, if not guarded against, recreate atleast some of the undesirable situation and conditions which they are escaping from. Thus the immigrant needs to be vigilant in not deliberately or unintentionally recreating his/her country of origin in their 'new home country.'  To do so place them at risk of  going backward, instead of forward.  Which then raises the question: why did you come to this country, if you do not want to flow with and become a part of
