And that for still others, sadly, tragically, it there will be no change from the misfortune which we, they, the others have had to endure and suffer, in 2016.  That for others, it will indeed be the case that there will be a joyous turnaround in their lives, as the gods of misfortune are defeated by the gods of god fortune, transforming their misfortune to, at last, good fortune, and blessing them with the pleasure and happiness that they have not known for some time or, indeed, a very long time. Just when you think politicians cannot sink any lower in their despicability, Britain's Prime Minister, Mrs Theresa May, has proven those of us who had such thoughts, wrong; very wrong. Why, and in what context has she done so, you might ask? Well, the why has been satisfied by Mrs May condemning John Kerry's epic speech about the need for Israel to listen to the world and stop building more settlements on occupied Palestinian lands, and to do more to bring about a just settlement of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, as "inappropriate." The context is  that Mrs May has obsequiously attempted to appease the incoming United States President, Donald Trump, and pacify the seething Prime Minister of Israel, by, effectively, washing her hands of Britain's substantial role in the passing of the recent United Nation's resolution requiring Israel to desist from the building of such settlements. This insistence by the Prime Minister of Israel, on that country directly negotiating a settlement with the Palestinians, reminds me of the former Apartheid Regime in South Africa, with the dominant white government insisting on having direct negotiations with pliable 'black leaders' of the Bantustans. It was tantamount to the Apartheid Regime saying, 'we know and understand our blacks, how they think and what is good for them.'  It was negotiations based on what the white regime needed and wanted, and nothing to do with the blacks, except insomuch as to stop them from doing anything to endanger the privileged living of the whites. So, The Don is promising to make it more difficult for American companies to operate in and trade with foreign countries, such as China, by putting the squeeze on trade agreements and making them more partial to America's interests, as perceived by The Don. This could mean companies in America producing products at a higher cost than they are being produced in other countries; yes, such as China, and with the American consumer having to pay a higher price for them. Which, of course, could lead wage and price inflation. Will Israelis and Palestinians seize the Sun in 2017, or will they choose to remain in their self-imposed 'Ice-age'? If we were to perceive of the continuing conflict between the State of Israel and the Palestinians of the occupied territories as a Greek tragedy, the recent developments could be played out as follow, bearing in mind that a great deal of tragic events have preceded these acts. Act one - The United Nations Security Counsel passed a resolution forbidding the State of Israel from building new settlements in occupied territories. Act Two - Isreal summoned the ambassadors of the countries forming the Security Council, including the United States, her main ally, and scolded them for what she saw as their 'unfriendly' and 'shameful' act. Donald Trump, even before he takes up residency in the White House, has loudly declared his intention to cause major upheavals in the how his Administration will do business in America and the world. We might not be far wrong if we were to get the impression that Donald Trump is currently operating as if he and his Administration is and will be running the government as if it is a mafia or teamster organisation. Already he has declared his intention to move America's Embassy to Jerusalem, in an attempt to strengthen America's support for Israel, and the realisation of his and his supporters Christian agendas.
