RUSSIA, CHINA AND THE DON PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES - WILL IT BE WAR? PART 1.

Is The Don President promising the people 'pie in the sky'?

On 20th January 2017, President Elect, Donald Trump, will be inaugurated as the 45th President of the United States of America, POTUS, if you wish. For his ardent supporters, it will be tantamount to the crowning of the King, or, for the more religious amongst them, even the 'adoration of the Magi.' For more discerning Americans, it will be the beginning of a long awaited and anxiety provoking voyage into the unknown. America's 'Brexit moment', if you will.

For the poor and aggrieve people of America, those who have felt that they have had no improvement in their economic circumstances, and that their predicament has been made worse by the 8 year reign of President Barak Obama, the nation's first African American President, the Don President's inauguration is likely to be met with the same kind of hope which they might have felt when Barak Obama was inaugurated.

What would the little bird foretold of the fate of The Don's Presidency?

Hopes and promises, it seem, mean a lot to Americans, while faith and charity might be on the retreat; having so often resulted in disappointments. Yes, Americans, like people all over the world, have become disaffected by politics; even of the 'yes, we can', variety which propelled Barak Obama into office in 2008. A time and date which now seem a very very long time ago.

You can understand why Americans might have believed the promises of President Obama. Promises of how he was going to make America a better place for Americans. Which we can now compare with The Don's promise to 'make America great agains.' Promises of how he was going to end America's involvement in wars around the globe, and promises of how he was going to work to bring people around the world together and work for peace.

You can understand why he was believed. Especially as, with untimely haste after his inauguration, he was bestowed with the Nobel Peace Prize. Which everybody, include the  Peace Committee which, having nominated him for the prize before he had done anything to achieve peace in the world, could only have done so on the basis that he would have succeeded in doing so, while his predecessor failed.

For poor and aspirants Americans; the young and the old who wanted their country to be a more forward looking and progressive country, and to stop being 'the world's policeman', President Obama gave rise to great euphoria. Not only was he the nation's first African-American, but, compared to the presidents who preceded him, Americans might have felt that 'he would be the 'ordinary guy's President.

That he would have understood their plight, their economic, political and social predicament, and could be relied upon to wanting to transform them. They felt he could identify with them. But, of course, is this not what all political leader claim; that they understand the people's plight and will improve them?

And so President Obama was inaugurated and went about trying to make good his promises, as he battled with a archaic and deeply conservative governmental system, and a global and national economy which was strangling America and the world. He had some successes and he had a lot of failures. He probably proved himself to have been more of a 'war President' than a 'peace President.' Indeed, President Obama, in all good conscience, should really return the Nobel Peace Prise, as he does not deserve it.

And in the end, the Democratic Party and its Presidential Nominee, Hillary Clinton, along with other things, were punished by the American Electoral System. Because of President Obama's actual and perceived national economic failures, with the AES conferring the Presidency onto Donald Trump.

The Don who is now promising to 'Make America Great Again', and the people who, probably hoping against hope, are hoping that he will be able to keep his promises. An electoral system which apparently saw Hillary Clinton losing her bid to become President, as a result of having been defeated by no more than 74,000 votes in 3 key states, and even though she had won the majority of the votes caste in the election.

To be continued.

The challenge is to create a future better than the present and not to re-create the past, however illustrious it might have been represented as having been!
