JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE IMPERMANENCE OF LIFE AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE. PART 3.

But how can such a thing be achieved, especially when it is given to us humans to live no more than, normally, more than a hundred years?  Surely, living a hundred years, even two or three hundreds year, when compared to the infinity of time, is far from 'living for ever', or attaining 'everlasting life.'  Even if anybody would be so foolish as to desire such cursed and lonely state of being. So, no. It would not be prudent or feasible for the impermanent state of being of us humans, to be replaced by one of a self-perceiving state of permanence. The best way for us to deal our state of impermanence, is to accept it.  To adjust our intellect into accepting the logic and compassion of us humans not having to become loss in time and space.   Not having to witness and endure, forever, the pain of the brutality and tragedy of a life which goes on, and on, and on, and on...... Our logical response to our impermanent state of being, is to accept o

AFRICA AND THE NEW EUROPEAN BATTLE FOR ITS SOUL! PART 2.

But none of this has dissuaded the Europeans and Arabs, especially those from the predominantly Sunni countries, from heading back to Africa.  As if they are in search of the New Messiah.  Because, not satisfied with the continuing mental enslavement of Africans, through the latent power of the alien religions which they have subjected and socialised them into.  Europeans and Arabs are now finding that they have to fight a rearguard action to restrict, even reverse the progress which the Chinese have made in building, not always equal or unproblematic relationships with African countries. Many African peoples are suspicious of Chinese investments and joint projects in their countries.   Because, having experienced the exploitative nature of the European ventures in Africa, they have come to expect that the Chinese will inflict the same model on them.  Even thought Africa has not had any past experience of Chinese invasion and colonisation.   As oppose

First the life of the person who has passed and in whose passing we anticipate our own.  The impermanence of not only what we perceive and reconstruct, but also of us, the perceivers. Probably unlike any other primates, it is given to us humans, through our still on-going evolution, to not only 'feel or sense' the moment of our approaching oblivion.  But we are also able to contemplate and think about it. To even plan how we might deal with it.  To even deliberately expedite our demise. To resolve the question of our impermanence And what should we make of this impermanence which is at our core, and which can cause us such anxiety and emotional pain? Should we seek to undo it?  To make our impermanence into permanence, by gaining immortality?  To defeat death by means other than dying? Doubtlessly, many or most people might have spent some or alot of time contemplating such a thing.  At sometime in the lives of all humans, the thought of gaining immortalit

AFRICA AND THE NEW EUROPEAN BATTLE FOR ITS SOUL! PART 1.

Image
So, is there a 21st Century battle for Africa going on at present, and, if so, what is it that the new contenders want to extract from the formerly 'dark Continent'?  Is it the souls of Africans that these contenders desire? No? Well, are these new 'seducers' of Africa simply prospective exploiters.  Who are not fishing to harvest the souls of Africans, to convert to their particular religions, as they had done in the past.  But are seeking to find and secure their supplies of natural resources, and large actual and potential consumer markets to buy their manufactured commodities? Europeans, including the Americans, and the Arab peoples have had an ambiguous and largely exploitative relationship with the people of what is called 'sub-Saharan Africa.'  Having first exploited and dominated them both physically, through enslaving and chattelising or commoditising into objects which could be bought and sold like any other merchandise.

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON WHETHER HUMANS CAN AND SHOULD COMMUNICATE MORE WITH OUR ENVIRONMENT. PART 5.

After all, it is the natural environment which has enabled the evolution of life.  And it is still essential for the preservation of this life. Over-reliance on the 'concrete jungle', is almost certain to foster a harsher and more 'soulless' human psyche and persona.  The survival of which is probably less worthy than those which have evolved naturally from the 'primal swamp.' All of which suggest that us humans should, in the first instance, continue to do what is being done, and more, to protect our existing flora and fauna.  Both in its wild state, and in their habitats in our villages, towns and cities.  Our governments and local authorities should do more to promote, not so much the 'gentrification' of our towns and cities, by the building of expensive houses.  But by ensuring that it becomes the responsibility of all us, ordinary citizens, children, home owners and tenants, to 'live green life-styles.'  Making it

IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 22.

'Like death and bereavement, at times when we are experiencing what seems like 'our worse nightmares.'   We tend not to be aware of the fact that, 'our worse nightmares' are in fact no more than everyday adversities which many other people are having to contend with.' Not all of them would have resulted in harm to Kazaliwa, but some in him having harmed others seriously.   Including those which would eventually resulted in him being convicted and given a long prison sentence.  An event which would lead a member of Kazaliwa's extended family.  Sometime after he had been incarcerated.   To pose the question as to whether it might not have been a good thing for Kazaliwa to have been sent down?  On reflection, during calmer times, Mfanyazaki and Nzuri, and, indeed, Kazaliwa, were to find themselves agreeing.  Since it would turnout that, although they could not have known that it would have been so.   It

Why not? Why not, indeed! After all, is our environment any less important to us, and, indeed, the animals with whom we already make friends, for our survival?  Can they survive without the sustenance we all derive from our environment?  Can any of us survive without the crucial herbs and chemicals we use to make the medicine we take, when we are ill?  Can we survive without having the oxygen we breathe to keep our vital organs and bodies going from minute to hours to days to months to years to decades?  Can we survive without keeping the increase of carbon monoxide in check?  Do we, then, need to be able to communicate with and protect our environment, our eco-systems, any less than we need oxygen? I think us humans definitely need to regain our ability to communicate more persistently with our eco-systems, our environment, and rebuild our relationship with them.  There is this need for us to have a balanced relationship with our eco-systems and environmental milie

Ship Aahooy, Captain!

And there we were siting in this restaurant, when, upon looking across the Bay, there was this vessel tentatively and carefully making its way to port in South Sheilds, under the vigilant guidance of two tugs.   Closer, and closer it came, but without ever making it to us. JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE IMPERMANENCE OF LIFE AND ITS SIGNIFICANCE. PART 1.

Image
Life as we who are in the know, know only too well, is an impermanent state of being.  Yes, probably not always being the case, but is still really a matter of being here today and gone tomorrow.  Or so it seems, when we are afforded the poignant opportunity to reflect on the past and anticipate the future.  When some one passes on, someone we have probably only ever heard of or see in the media.  Or some one close to us, a member of our family, a relative or a friend.  And, in our period of sorrow, of mourning, of sorrow, we do focus on the impermanence life.  To be continued!

And, so it seems to me, that evolving humans first separate themselves into different social groups, such as the ordinary people and the leaders and nobility.  Then move outwardly to conquer other people and making slaves of them.  Thus giving rise to the concept of 'free peoples' and slaves, with the latter being the 'outsiders.'  Moving on to a system of warfare which was not restricted to making forays into other people's lands and capturing and taking them back as slaves.  But to actually capturing and colonising the people they fought against, and their lands. But let us not concern ourselves too much with all that, since all or most of it is now in the past.  Even if, with the increasing and terrible predicament of adverse global weather.  We, or humans in the future, might well find themselves having to repeat some of the terrible injustices of the past. Such as fighting for more sustainable places to live. Which is why the issue of
