JUST PHILOSOPHISING - THE BURKA AND THE WEST: NO CONCESSION? PART 1.

Image
It has recently been reported that the German Parliament has voted for a partial ban on Muslim women wearing the Burqa.  Which is the hooded garment which they wear to cover up all their head, with only a narrow in front of their eyes. To enable them to see, but, most importantly, for the Muslims who wear it, not to be seen by others. The wearing of a hood over ones head and face, can conjure up discomfort, suspicion and even fear amongst those who encounter it.  To  a western on-looker, the person wearing the burqa can be perceived as being uncivil and impolite.  The burqa becomes a statement of 'I do not want to interact with you. I want to observe you but I do not want you to be able to see me and observe me.'  The burqaised Muslim can be perceived as having an unfair, if curious advantage over those not hiding their faces.  It makes social interaction and discourse even more stilted than it could be without such obstacles as wearing a burqa. Fo

.JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON STATES OF BEING. RACIST. PART 4.

The concept of 'one race being pitted against another', is, to some extent, like the 'concept of religion', built on a false premis.  It might be legitimate to speak of a differentiated breed of cow, sheep, goat, et al.  However, although the 'breed' will have some differentiated characteristics or attributes.  Such as probably being darker than the other breeds, being more tolerant of adverse weather, or having greater immunity or susceptibility to certain afflictions, it is still a cow, a goat, a sheep, et al. And so it is with us humans.  There are some observable differential characteristics between a white European, a black African, a Chinese, an Asian person of Indian origin.  But they will all have the same commonality of being of the  human race or specie, with the potential of doing the same kinds of things. Be those things constructive or destructive one Their will all have the same critical or essential organs, and bodily functions.

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - IF MEN WERE TO STOP WOMEN LEADING THE WORLD! PART 1.

Image
At a time when the proverbial 'leader of the free world' is either running amok or threatening to run amok in fostering chaos in both the 'free world' and the presumably 'unfree world.'  It is time to reflect on how things could or might have been, had the fate of the world and humans not been abrogated by the most venal and ferocious of the human specie.  Man. There must be times when the sages might have wondered aloud. If only god had not created Man, then the world would certainly, at least, most probably, been a better place for the habitation of all life forms And that is not a conclusion which we need the ancient sages to draw, from what they observe of the behaviour of Man.  It is a conclusion which any reasonably intelligent child or adult can readily arrive at, from observing what is taking place around the world.  A world in which it is Man, who is in charge, or, is pretending to be in charge. But with dire lack of success in mak

.JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON STATES OF BEING. RACIST. PART 3

Image
By now you will be wondering where am I going in exploring the issue of racism.  Well, to begin with, I felt it necessary to contextualise 'racism' as being just one of a quite wide variety of how humans go about stratifying ourselves and how we interact and behave towards each other.  Both individually and as apparently discreet ethnic, religious, cultural, social, political and national groups. Yes, we all know or should know that there really is only one 'race' of humans.  The scientists and archaeologists have studied the bones, other artefacts and the genetic codes of our ancient ancestors.   And have theorised that 'modern humans' evolved from species which exhibited 'human-like' features, going back 3-7 million years ago.  How us humans evolved into the sentient beings that we have become is a very complex process which has taken millions of years.  For which we have to rely on 'the scientific proof', or, for the more

A CONVERSATION WITH GOD. PART 14.

Image
As you put forward your thoughts, G. I am reminded of the fear of humans that the robots they created, the computer they invented and are developing.  The powerful scientific and technological instruments and weaponry they are developing, could, in due course, attain mastery over them.  Human creations, as it were, becoming more powerful than them. Initially being manipulated by humans, but, through a process of symbiosis, learning the ways of humans.  And, like a developing child fully interacting with his/her environment, assimilates them.  After all, G. Is not the ergosumness of which humans pride themselves, and see as differentiating them from 'baser animals.'  Mostly the result of cellular and electrical charges, taking place in their brains, and interacting with external stimuli and responses to make sense of it all?  Is it therefore not conceivable that robots could, in time, develop similar functions and mastery? But, G. Let us leave such

A CONVERSATION WITH GOD! PART 13.

Yes, the neither the sighted, the visually blind or they who are without speech can see, hear of touch or feel you, G.  Which, for a change. makes all humans 'equal' in this respect.  However, the question still has to be asked: If you, God, exists, why do you persist in hiding in the shadows and the darkness, both figuratively and literally?  Why this persistent refusal to show yourself? Why this apparent disembodiment?  Could it be that you are really 'without shape or form, without any essential substance? G.: In earnest you ask of these profound questions, T. And in earnest I do answer you.  Humans might never know truly know the answers to these questions.  I am, after all, as far as you are concerned, a product of the imaginations of the ancients. Which has been kept alive and further developed by succeeding generations of the faithful.  People who you consider to be deceived.  The humans who believe in me and those who pretend to

BRITISH GENERAL ELECTIONS - MASTER STROKE FROM PRIME MINISTER THERESA MAY?! THE END!

Image
Because, on the one hand, they should not allow the Tory's to win this election with a majority which could be interpreted as giving the next government a carte blanche or blank cheque.  To do so would be, arguably placing Prime Minister May on par with President Putin and President Erdogan. It would dilute the semblance of 'democracy' which still coats the more unseemly political rule of the country. At the same time, the British electorate does not have a strongly credible political alternative to vote for, in the form of the Labour Party.  Which seems to indicate that tactical voting should probably become the order of the day.  With the electorate voting for not only the Tories, but for Labour, the Lib-Dems, SNP, and the Greens, with a view to ending up with a coalition government.  I am aware that some British politicians, rather arrogantly, believe that coalition governments are not good enough for the British. Which is patently not the case, as coaliti
