The Hapless Cat Hunter!

Image
If it was about effort and commitment, this cat would have been well up there, as the saying goes.  However, it is not only about making the effort, but rather about achieving the desired results. Which is why, for this amiable cat, the fun has to be in the chase, only.  As it chases the disrespecting Crows and Magpies, who flutter here and there, and appearing to be saying; you miss, you cannot catch me, try again, and haw, haw... Please take a look and, is you are so inclined, have a laugh.

SEX AND ITS VARIOUS AND CONFLICTING ROLES IN SOCIETY. PART 1.

Image
'Sex', as it applies to human society or condition, is somewhat of an ambivalent term.  It and its various derivatives, such as 'sexiness', can mean different things to different people and at different times.  It can be used to define both a process and an outcome, such as, 'having sex.' Because of these ambiguities, it makes good sense to define what I am talking about, when I make mention of 'sex.'  In what could be seen as its original context, 'sex', and more specifically, 'having sex.'  Defines the act of a male of the human species having 'intercourse', or 'copulating', or 'shagging', or 'fucking' or 'screwing.'  Or any of the other numerous terms which are colloquially used to define this act, with the female of the human species, and, of course, vice versa. In its basic and physiological form, this, is what 'sex' or 'having sex', is really about, w

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE PREVALENCE AND TRANSFERABILITY OF A STATE OF 'OTHERNESS' ! PART 2..

That they must assume the state of 'otherness', if they have not already drawn that conclusion, and begin to adjust and 'come to terms' with this status.  And what are the attributes which can and are leading people to 'feel', to assume and to be ascribed the status of 'otherness'?  Well, the 'state of otherness' is one which, as I have noted, we are all likely to experience at some points in our lives.  Because, although it can be arrived at through physiological and biological factors, or attributes, its occurrence also requires what we could call a demographical mismatch.  Such as can occur when people of different ethnicity, visits or move to a country where there are very few of them.  A black African or American moving to China, or Chinese moving to Britain, Mongolians moving to Germany or France, et al.  People, probably like nature, seems to be attracted, in general, to their own ethnic group.  For r

JUST THOUGHT A THOUGHT - ON CHINA-AFRICA PARTNERSHIP; A RELATIONSHIP FORGED IN GOODWILL AND TRANQUILITY OR...? PART 5.

There are some African countries, and sometimes when, the incumbent government and the political leader is one and the same thing.  A case which can probably be made out against any and most countries at one time or other, in their evolving history. Probably one of the biggest threat which the burgeoning Africa-China trade and economic partnership poses.  Is around the ethical standards and principles which will be applied. The impact of corrupt and otherwise unethical business practices which will come into play from corrupt Africans and Chinese politicians, business partners.  The extent to which they will be willing to sacrifice the environmental integrity and health, the faunal and floral diversity, and the land use rights of ordinary African, of African countries? With its thousands of years of civilisation and governmental bureaucracy, the Chinese government, now under the guidance of President Xi Jingping.  Should be aware of the fact that, if its relationship

It is not about pressuring African countries into adopting is Socialism or Communist political and social model. Unlike the former Soviet Union, China has arguably never been a country which proselytises its political model.  E ven though the cadres from the former liberation armies in Africa, such as Frelimo, ZANU and ZAPU, the ANC, the MPLA, et al.  Will have had some exposure to Chinese political ideology, when they went to study and train in China.  In this respect, the countries of Africa do not have much, if anything to fear from China proffering them the hand of partnership in developing their countries.  President Xi Jingping is not demanding that African countries copy its political model, as a condition for receiving economic and developmental assistance and investment from China.  Unlike the tendency of western countries to make their assistance and investments in Africa, conditional on that country being a 'a democracy' or moving toward

That sense of feeling that 'I/we' do not belong in this place where we now find ourselves.   Or, since the feeling is at its strongest when it is subjectively felt, 'I now find myself'.  Is one which all humans will or is likely to find themselves experiencing, at some point in our lives.  Our societies are repleted with groups and categories of people, who, due to some specific attributes, which they do not share with the majority of other humans around them.   Are made, intentionally and unintentionally, to 'feel' that they do not 'belong.'  They do not have the 'right' to be where they are, at that given space and time.  That they are counted amongst the 'out group', the 'lesser group', that they belong to or with 'the other.'  Of course, this 'made to feel' feeling is more complex, in its origins, than might appear to be the case.  Since is it not always a straightforward

The Therapeutic Water Feature!

It might be the case that the vibrant sounds of water cascading down fall and smashing on the stones or rocks beneath it does not appeal to everbody; however incredible that strikes me as being.  However, if you are not counted amongst those who are so unmoved, then please take a look and a listen to this video, and enjoy the moments of pleasure which is to be had from it.  As well as allowing yourself to be destressed by it, should you be in such need.

IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 23.

'Like death and bereavement, at times when we are experiencing what seems like 'our worse nightmares.'  We tend not to be aware of the fact that, 'our worse nightmares' are in fact no more than everyday adversities which many other people are having to contend with.' As Kazaliwa became more into drugs, so he became lost and unresponsive to the attempted controlling influences of his parents and his brother.  It got to the point where he was not only out of their control, but had given rise to a situation where his behaviour, combined with their concern for his welfare, would enabled him to control them.  There would be times when he would be away from home for extended periods of time. without his family being able to make contact with him.  Then, suddenly, he would make contact with them. Not because he missed them or was concerned that they would be worrying about his welfare.  But because he needed something, such as money

JUST A THOUGHT, ON SYRIA AND THE BATTLE FOR IDLIB - A NECESSARY PRICE TO END THE WAR? THE END.....

And this is a goal they are committed to and are prepared to fight, kill and die for.  There are likely to be, however, other Syrians living in Idlib who support the government and not the rebels.  But who find that their survival, as tends to be the case in wars and violent conflicts of many kinds.  Those who are having to make out that they support the rebels, not having the presence and protection of the government.  For these Syrians, the probably imminent government offensive to retake Idlib is likely to be something they are anxiously and even ambivalently contemplating.  Ambivalent because, too often, 'being liberated' is bought at a pyrrhic price, with the people, those who find themselves, after the destruction, without only their lives but no livelihoods, homes or property. Notwithstanding the terribly dilemma which confronts the people of Idlib, it does seem that the cost of the government taking the City now, is likely to be less than it woul

JUST A THOUGHT, ON SYRIA AND THE BATTLE FOR IDLIB - A NECESSARY PRICE TO END THE WAR? PART 4.

The most constructive role the West and the backers of the rebels can play, in this probably final major act of this vicious and over lengthy war, is to call on the rebels to surrender.  And on the Syrian, Russian, Iranian and Hezebollah forces to be circumspect and 'post-war and future focus', in how they go about prosecuting this final major battle. Shouts of alarm and prophesies from Turkey and the Americans about the likely civilian cost of liberating Idlib from the rebels, are not credible.  The Americans helped the Iraqis to destroy Mosul, and they destroyed Raqqa and Kobane, in Syria. While the Turks attacked Afrin in Syria, and depopulated it.  The concerns about death and destruction in Idlib, when it it is attacked, are real.  But the fact that there are these concerns, and that some people will lose their lives and even more, their property and livelihoods.  Seen in the context of other towns, cities and villages which have been 'liber
