AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY AGEING AND EVOLVING MOTHER! PART 54.

Image
Even if it is only to last another day. Which seems to have happened recently to my dear mother.  For how long her improved mood will last, I do not know, although, if I have learnt anything from past experience, then, I really should know. Nevertheless, it is the case that, after a visit from her therapist, my dear mother is showing renewed motivation to become more active.  Not only has she attended a gentle exercise session, where she happened to have been the only person, next to the trainer.   But on my most recent visit to her, she went for a short unprompted walk. Which is great. Even more recently there has been other critical developments regarding my dear mother.  Most startling of which has been the occasion when I feared she might be dying.  To be continued!

JUST A THOUGHT ON - THE BATTLE OF BREXIT. PART 1.

Image
It has now been over 3 years since the British people, or, at least, the 52 per cent of the electorate who voted in the 2016 Referendum to leave the European Union.   Been waging their war to give effect to what has, erroneously and deceptively, called 'the will of the people.'  How it has become known as that, as far as the Brexiteers are concerned, is basically because the Brexiteers won the majority of the votes, however small, have deemed it to be 'the will of the British people.'  For them, it does not matter that time has moved on, and that recent opinion polls have been consistently been showing that a majority of the British people now wants the country to remain in the European Union. They continue to live in the past and are continuing to argue that the outcome of the 2016 referendum should be seen as representing 'the will of all the British people.'  For the leavers, and those who are unquestionably wedded to the simplest, or m

THE TIMELESS DEATH OF A PIGEON!

Image
This video records the poignant death or killing of a Pigeon, with the instrument of its destruction being a local cat. The presence and active participation of other birds, magpies and crows in the traumatic event raises some questions.  For instance, were they trying to help the injured pigeon by encouraging it to fly away or seek effective cover. Or were they or some of them attacking it, while also protecting themselves against the predatory cat?  The video is accompanied by Fern, by Ann Annie. See what you make of it. JUST A THOUGHT ON - ABANDONING FOOTBALL MATCHES IN RESPONSE TO RACIST ABUSE. PART 1.

Image
So, it appears that abandoning football matches in response to a few or some of the spectators verbally and otherwise abusing black players, could become a frequent occurrence.  But, is this collective punishing of the players, their clubs and the fans and watching public, the best approach towards effectively fighting this kind of expression of racism in the football business?  Is it fair that a match should have to be postponed or cancelled because of the vile and sometimes commonplace expression of racism towards black players?  After all, who looses out when a match is cancelled? Is it the racist abusers whose pleasure is frustrated?  Or is it the footballers, their teams, their fans, the watching public, the sponsors and investors in the industry? And what lesson do those who support the abandonment of football games in response to racist behaviour from some of the people attending the matches, want to convey?  If that of 'punishing the players, t

FROM THE BRIDGE OVER RIVER THAMES AT WINDSOR.

Image
This is a short video of what was seen of the River Thames and the surrounding area, while standing on a bridge straddling it, as it passes through Windsor Town Centre, during a moment in time and space in September 2019. Be my guest in having a look and seeing if it does anything pleasurable and/or informatively for you.

AN ENIGMATIC AND POIGNANT JOURNEY AROUND MY AGEING AND EVOLVING MOTHER! PART 52.

Similarly, for those of us, who, like my dear mother, are cursed and/or blessed to be able to move toward our death in a more timely manner, how we do so, is more a matter of personal choice.  Some of us will want to try to 'live our lives to the full.' Some of us will want to make, where we can, a gradual disengagement from the world, by losing our interest in and giving up things that we used or are still doing.  Our motivation becomes less, and we can no longer be bothered to do certain things.  Especially those which bring us less or no pleasure at all. Those which we do not consider worthwhile anymore.  Some of us might even get to the stage where we no longer have any great motivation or even desire to live anymore, and seem to assume 'a position of waiting to die.'  Death, it might appear, cannot come soon enough. And yet, such is life, that, where you are able to live it, though you might feel like giving it up today.   Tomorrow you c
