JUST A THOUGHT - ON LIAM NEESON'S CONTROVERSIAL COMMENT ABOUT RACE! THE END....

As he had noted, he grew up in Northern Ireland, so, if we are not to emulate Liam's 'irrational' response to the tragedy, we need to have a look at factors in his life which might have led to him nearly committing another tragedy.

How he might have succumbed to the urge for revenge. There is, in Northern Ireland, the history of bigotry between Catholics and Protestants.

Old Northern Ireland has been a good breeding ground for 'racial', or, if you like, 'religious profiling.'

As Liam Neeson is reported to have said, we all indulge in 'racial profiling.' The difference is that he has been honest in admitting to it.

Which suggests that, instead of taking 'a shock horror response' to what he has said.  It might be more productive to use what he has said to begin a honest debate about his experience of these issues.

And how they have also impact on others of us, who would prefer not to own up to them.

Should he be condemned for what he thought of doing, and might have done, had the opportunity arose?

Even though there is no evidence of him having killed anybody, black or of any other ethnicity?

Even though many of us, at sometimes in our lives, might have had cause to wish someone dead, or to kill someone?

Even though, if humans were to be tried and convicted for all of our 'evil', harmful or murderous thoughts, a very high percentage of the world's population might be found guilty.

This should not be a cause for starting a 'anti-Liam Neeson crusade', or to use what he has said as further proof of 'the racist perspective of white men.'

That is not going to advance the cause and struggle for us humans to become more aware of how we continue to use others ethnicity, colour, culture, religions and gender.

To define them and form negative and, at times, erroneous views about them, and treat them less favourably.

We know enough of the causes of social, political and economic injustices, and 'racism' is only one of them. The focus should be on removing or reducing them impact of the causes, and achieving better outcomes, irrespective of the presence of the causes.
