JUST A THOUGHT - LIVE YOUR LIFE AS FULLY AS YOU CAN; WHEN ITS DONE, ITS DONE! PART 2.

Image
As if staying alive and living cannot be taxing enough, we are now being conditioned to make plans for our final departure.  To be organised, take personal responsibility and not burden 'our loved ones.'    And, of course, the state, by not making arrangements for the final 'clean up', after we expire.  A further testament of the fact that the world owes no human anything, either in life or in death. As far as we know. So much attention to death, while, it seems to me, that we often neglect to give enough attention to living and sharing.  To extracting as much happiness and enjoyment as we can from our living. Before we die.  Of course, to some extent, perceptions and feelings towards dying and death, are culturally influenced and refined.  For some cultures, death, like marriage, is an event about which much ado is made, in celebrating or mourning it.  Even thought whatever celebration and mourning takes place, in the case of death, is vicarious

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON LIVING IN THE CULTURAL BORDERLANDS OF THE MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY! PART 3.

'Like the great fertility and awe-inspiring presence which is to be found where two great rivers converge.   So,  also, is the crucial importance of 'borderlands' where people of different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds are contiguous to one another.  What happens here, can have great influence on, and implications for the relationships between these citizens, in the wider society.' As the hope of a new life, free of the privations of economic blight attracts hundreds of thousands, millions of people from the desperate regions of the world to Europe and the United States of America.  To be met by the fear and rejection of many of the latter's people.  It is important to be mindful of the fact that people are resources with which and who are capable of building a stronger and more inclusive nation.  If they are prudently assimilated and led into doing so. It is at edge or cultural and ethnic borderlands where you might find a

JUST A THOUGHT - LIVE YOUR LIFE AS FULLY AS YOU CAN; WHEN ITS DONE, ITS DONE! PART 1.

Ever so often we are reminded of how important it is to live and enjoy our living as fully as we can.  This, ironically, is a thought, a contemplation which usually comes to us when we are confronted with tragedy. Tragedy befalling some or people within our orbit.  Either members of our family, friends of ours or of our family, and /or people we have come to know of.   Even though we might never have met them in the flesh or have been near to them, but think and feel like we do know them. And what can these personally evocative tragedies be? Well, they tend to be about some major catastrophe.  Like someone being diagnosed with cancer or brain tumour, or other organic failure.  Someone suffering a stroke. But, most poignantly, they are about people, lovely ones or strangers dying and being dead.  That is when we really think to ourselves,  how that could have been me!   Or,  what if that had been me?    Or,  what if that had been my partner, parent, children, brot

Yes, if you think that I have a fascination with observing live fish in their natural habitat, then you are correct. It is only inn season and in the right or, even exceptional circumstances when this kind of scenery can observed along the Canal. Please take a look and have a listen, and see if you find some pleasure to experience and enjoy!

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON MATTERS OF GOD AND HUMANS, AND 'GOD' AS A SYMBOL OF OUR ASPIRATION FOR SECURITY. PART 3.

Image
Is it because we fear the gods more than we fear the punitive actions of the powerful amongst us humans?  The believers who have, over the centuries and millenniums, set themselves up as the guardians of the different gods and faiths.  And on whose alleged behalf, they have been torturing, forcing, coercing and conditioning humanity to accept and serve. It seems to me that, fear of the supposedly malevolence, their power to do us harm.   Is not a necessary and sufficient condition for us not to question the gods and invite them to account for themselves, of themselves.  Instead of their supposed agents and followers purporting to be doing it for them.  Neither should their purported love, the proverbial 'love of god', be considered a good enough reason for avoiding difficult conversation with the gods After all, even if the gods were to become annoyed, it is very unlikely that they would, of themselves, do anything about it.  Apparently includin

JUST A THOUGHT - ON WIMBLEDON 2018, AND BEING ROBBED BY SERENA WILLIAMS' FAILURE TO PERFORM! THE END..!

Image
And, probably even most noticeably, Serena Williams seems to be a very tired Tennis player.  She seems drained and, well, as if she has had her fill of playing Tennis, especially at the level at which she has become accustomed to. All of which have combined and led to Serena Williams putting in a most disappointing, embarrassing and woefully frustrating performance during her Wimbledon Women's Final with Angelique Kerber.  Serena lost the Final by 2 sets to nil. She fought like a tiger to get to the Final, but she succumbed as one who was woefully unprepared for a fight. She never got started, and it was not because Kerber was playing brilliantly; it was more a matter of Serena not playing or playing particularly badly.  Now, as I said, I am a fan of both the Williams sisters. However, no amount of partiality towards Serena, would have prevented me from feeling that I have been spectacularly robbed.  If I had had the misfortune to have paid to watch her
