JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON THE SECRET LIVES OF HUMANS! THE END...
In effect, despite the increasing calls and demands for transparency between peoples, it is arguable that 'normal relationships' would not and cannot be maintained without us keeping secrets.
Many of us would probably not eat process foods and drinks, if we were to be inundated with how they are made.
Many of us would probably not eat mass produced meat, if we were to be inundated with how how the animals are reared.
We would not or find it difficult to eat farm crops, if we knew more about the effect, on living organisms, including humans, of the manufactured chemicals used in their production.
Similarly, we would find it more difficult to maintain personal relationships. If we were to share all our fears, our anxieties, our damaging mistakes and experiences with our loved ones.
As well as others who have power over us, or whom we have power over and/or responsibility for.
And the success of our non-secret lives, can be a measure of our success in maintaining our secret lives.
In this respect, us humans having secret lives, which are not about, but could include, maintaining secret amorous affairs and other secrets, are not, of themselves, wrong, immoral or necessarily harmful.
They are simply essential ways that we use to try to prevent, control or reduce the damaging repercussions and harm which can arise from disclosures.
It can be an attempt to balance the disproportionately negative consequences of 'being honest', against the lesser detriment and/or stability of maintaining secrecy.
