JUST PHILOSOPHISING - ON LIVING IN THE CULTURAL BORDERLANDS OF THE MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY! PART 5.

'Like the great fertility and awe-inspiring presence which is to be found where two great rivers converge.  
So,  also, is the crucial importance of 'borderlands' where people of different ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds are contiguous to one another. 

What happens here, can have great influence on, and implications for the relationships between these citizens, in the wider society.'

As the hope of a new life, free of the privations of economic blight attracts hundreds of thousands, millions of people from the desperate regions of the world to Europe and the United States of America. 

To be met by the fear and rejection of many of the latter's people.  It is important to be mindful of the fact that people are resources with which and who are capable of building a stronger and more inclusive nation. If they are prudently assimilated and led into doing so.

One which, in time, could bear more semblance to the religious and cultural origins of the 'newcomers', than that of the host community. 

A modern day peaceful 'colonisation' of the borderlands, if you like. 

But there is, of course, nothing essentially 'racial' about this new demographic configuration of the 'borderlands.' 

All or most of it is likely to naturally occur, where 'newcomers' move into an area.  

Even though the pace and some of the characteristics of the transformation, the evolution or devolution will differ. 

Because, it really is the case that 'newcomers', depending on their aspirations or lack of it, can improve or despoil an area. 

Even though, depending on their starting point, or comparative societies of the newcomers and the host community.  

What might seem to the host community to be deterioration, can, to the newcomers, be an improvement. 

According to similarities and dissonances of the demographics, social, religious and cultural norms of the 'newcomers' and the host communities.

So, what could all of this mean for the management, the social engineering of the multi-ethnic and multi-cultural society? 

What might be the most profound socio-political significance of what takes place and/or could be taking place in the 'cultural borderlands' of any given society?
