Holding Onto Fall/Autumn As Winter Approaches.

Image
As the dark and cold winter days and nights approach, so must or should be hold onto and enjoy the quickly diminishing and dying beauty of Fall/Autumn, and hope that it will fortify us as we endeavour to become accustomed to Winter, and its own unique beauty. In case you are left wondering what is the yellow entity in the video, it is the reflection of a light in the building in which I was standing. Do take a look and, if you will, enjoy and contemplate.

BRITISH JUSTICE - BLACK DEFENDANTS VERSUS ALL WHITE JURY, PROSECUTORS AND JUDGES EQUAL MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE. PART 3

Image
Being watchful of the quality of justice? Such as it is, it is therefore not surprising why some people believe that, where a criminal justice system, as they are probably in most countries of the world, are dysfunctional, nothing short of closing it down and rebuilding it, can ever have any significant impact in ensuring that it produces fair outcomes as a rule, and not an exception.  Britain's and America's criminal justice systems are notable examples of the dysfunctionality of criminal justice systems, and their resistance to reformist measures are probably legendary. They are probably like weeds in a garden; however often you try to get rid of their undesirable presence, they always seem to pop back up, because the root of the problem is always there, unless you dig it up and get rid of it. And what are these 'roots of the problem', of which I speak? If not the underlying philosophical underpinning of these criminal justice systems? What is it

The Paradoxical Beauty Of Fall/Autumn.

Image
Another Fall video, which reminds us of the beauty which can yet be derived from the transformation of healthy, living leaves, to the colourful, but dying process they go through, as they are prepared to be jettisoned from tree to air to land, before being reduced to energy again, until they are called upon to help to bring about the new life cycle in Spring.

THE AMERICAN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION - WILL THE AMERICAN ELECTORATE 'DO THE RIGHT THING'?

Image
So, will the American electorate 'do the right thing'? Will they, indeed? Well, first of all, it requires the American voters to know what is 'the right thing', in terms of which of the presidential candidates are likely to govern in a manner which benefits most of the American people, and especially, in my view, the more needy and dis-empowered citizens.  The section of the population which, despite them remaining loyal to Republicons or the Democrats, just never seem to make enough progress, and, even when they make progress, they might not be able to sustain it. Thus their approach toward politics tend to become one of cynicism, and/or one which leads them to misguided falling prey to visionaries such as Donald Trump. Donald Trump has promised to 'Make America Great Again', a promise which is likely to resonate with American nationalists, and patriots. The kind of Americans who believe that 'greatness' means being 'top dog' o

A THOUGHT FOR NOW - IT IS EASY TO PASS JUDGEMENT; BUT WHAT DO YOU KNOW OF THE JOURNEY?

Image
I think it might still be uncertain whether the poet did say, 'Life is a bitch, and then you die.'  Yet, there are times in our lives when we might be tempted to say, 'life is a bitch or a terror, and then you have to go on living, or suffering living.' This is because, although for millions of us humans, the acute and chronic pain and suffering which hundreds of thousands, if not millions of other people are having to endure for periods, if not all of their living, is something which, fortunately, tend to be alien to the rest of us who are not having to endure it. For these sufferers, living is a daily struggle, with their pain and suffering not going away, but using and abusing their bodies and their minds as hosts on whom to feed. With there being times when, like all or most humans, they might be tempted, if not forced to contemplate the purpose of continuing to live, and thereby sustain the emotional, psychological and/or physical suffering which is

ENDEAVOURING TO MAXIMISE THE JOYS OF LIVING!

Image
For probably all humans, living their lives is a challenge which afford us moments of happiness, interspersed with moments of sadness and even tragedy. It probably should be our goal, our desire and motivation to maximise the moments of happiness and pleasure which we derive from an oftentimes uncertain and problematic living. At the same time, while millions of us humans are contending with what could be described as the mundanity of much of our living, for hundreds of thousands, if not millions of others, living is mostly preoccupied with the challenge of staying alive. Such is the great challenge of those whose living is affected with calamities such as wars, natural disasters, famine and rampant diseases. As are, for example, the people of many parts of Syria, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Yemen, and Syria. Our hierarchy of things to fear and things which might occupy a great proportion of our conscious and subconscious awareness, might be largely influenced b

AMERICA'S PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION - VOTE FOR DAMAGE LIMITATION OR LEAST DETRIMENTAL OPTION, BUT VOTE!

Image
So, what will the media be saying on Wednesday 9th November 2016, about the result of America's presidential election? Will it be "Hillary Clinton Wins The American Presidential Election to become the First Woman President in the History of the Nation/Union"?  Or, will it be "Donald Trump, the New President of the United States of America"? If it is the latter, then it will bring joy, however short-lived, to millions of Americans; those who have voted for the Republicons, and, ipso facto, their presidential candidate, Donald Trump. It would also bring an acute sense of despair and chagrin to the hearts of the millions of Americans who will have voted for the Democratic Party, and, by virtue of that fact, Hillary Clinton, their presidential nominee.  We might also expect that it would bring a great and acute sense of apprehension to the hearts of millions of American Muslims, Latinos and black people, who would or might be expected to pay a
