JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON STATES OF BEING - PEOPLE WHO DO NOT NEED THEISTIC RELIGION IN ...PART 1.

Image
What kinds of people do not need to have a theistic religion in their lives to show or guide them along the best path to follow, as they progress along their journey towards their ultimate destiny, on the train of life? Well, arguably, nobody really need theistic religion to guide them along the 'right path' to living a fulfilled and happy life.  Indeed, it is arguably the case that theistic religions present a big obstacle to people living happy and fulfilled lives.  Or, if you prefer, people live fulfilled and happy lives despite the encumbrance of theistic religions. For the majority of the faithful, probably more so those of the Christian faith, they have been able to live relatively happy and fulfilled lives, because they do not take their religions too seriously.  This we can see, when we look to the faithful in the Americas, the Caribbean and Africa.  Yes, people do get unnecessarily worked up about aspects of humans personal lives, such as homo

CHINA - THE GREAT ENABLER OF AFRICA'S AND THE AMERICA'S DEVELOPMENT? PART 1.

Image
China is a vast country, both in terms of land mass and population.  Similarly, its population is very diverse, with various people of different ethnicities comprising what we have come to know as the Chinese people.  The Chinese, arguably, is more representative of the nation of China, rather than being a description of the ethnic characteristics of the Chinese people Being a country of over one billion people, and not as yet being an economic and military superpower.  China would probably not be being a selfish nation, if it were to restrict its developmental activities to mainland China, and, say, Hong Kong. After all, China probably has more than its share of people living in poverty,, even though it has reportedly removed hundreds of millions of people from living in poverty, since 1978.  However, as we know only too well, parts of China, like Bangladesh, is a country which regularly suffers the effects of natural and man-made disasters.  Such as the floodi

JUST A THOUGHT - SO, WHAT IS THE DESTINY OF 'MAN'? THE END.

Image
Yes, it is in this context that I have come to the conclusion that us humans, as a specie, appear to have a 'destiny' which uncomfortably reflects our history. It is as if we humans, looking forward to the future, are fated to inherit, as it were, our past; our history. Yes, it does seem crazy, but, while our biggest motivation continue to be the 'drive to survive', and to behave as if we are still living in 'prehistoric' florally and faunally threatening environment of our ancestors, I do fear that we are not heading away from, but back towards our past.  Historically, the biggest threat to the human specie, like other species, was from a hostile environment.  However, the biggest threat to contemporary humans, is not from our environment per se, but from how we are motivated and are impacting on our environment and ourselves.  The biggest threat to us humans is from ourselves; or rather, the fact that the dominant social models we are

Space And Time Seen Darkly Through A Windown!

Image
This is a short video of a moment in time, when space and time was seen darkly, as the stormy winds attacked the fauna and flora and reorganising familiar scenery; leaving a void in it. Please take a look and see what you are able to see, even if not very distinctly.

IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS. PART 5.

What reassurance can any father or parent give to their vulnerable son when faced with such a traumatic situation?   A situation which his brother, his mother and his father had spent the preceding years trying to avoid. By endeavouring to encourage the young man to consider the consequences of his action, before he made them.  To get him to think before he acts? The young man, although now clearly shock by the fearful realisation of this dreadful predicament, tried to reassure his father.   By telling him he would be able to cope with being incarcerated, and expressing his views about how he would cope.   Although his father appreciated his concern, it did not deflected him from contemplating how many things could go wrong, resulting in the failure of the attempted reassurance.  Which, in any case, could only have been effective momentarily. in the hyperactive state of the young man's parents minds.   The distressing thought of his son, who, notwiths

JUST PHILOSOPHISING - THE SEARCH FOR SIGNIFICANCE PART 1.

Image
Being significant is a raison de'tre or justification for our 'being'; the reason why we want to continue to exist, or live, as it were. Being significant speaks of our feelings about ourselves and the state of health of relationship we are having with the external world. A mother who has just given birth to her first child, refuses to leave her newly born baby, when confronted with a crisis. And so does a cow which has just given birth and needs to have her calf taken away from her, temporarily, so that it can be given some urgently needed treatment.  Both human and animal are in the process of developing a bond with their infant offspring. In the main, they are both acting out of instinct, a survival strategy which evolution has instilled into them, through a process which has been taking place for thousands of years.  The offspring of both are dependent on their parent for their survival in their years of dependency, until they can fend for themselves

JUST A THOUGHT - SO, WHAT IS THE DESTINY OF 'MAN'? PART 1.

Image
Are us humans destined to driven to our destruction by the relentless ' drive to survive ', and our failure to realise that we are now in the 'driving seat' as a result of our having attained ergosumness ; the ability to think and influence our own fate? And so it seems to me, that the destiny of 'man' who will drag women and the rest of humankind along with him, is nothing lest that what his history has been.  Namely that of conquest, submission and domination, and defence from 'outsiders.' Centuries ago, the Romans invaded other European lands and conquered the native peoples deprived them of their lands and/or demanded that they pay tribute to Roman Emperor.  In the course of time, other conquerors followed them, and, in their turn and according to how they ruled the local and subjected people. They furthered the process of separating the people from their traditional and/or ancestral lands.  Making it necessary for more peo
