IT WAS WRITTEN IN THE STARS - AN ACCOUNT OF LIVES IMPACTED BY 'EVERYDAY ADVERSITIES.' PART 11.

This was, of course, only 10 months into the trauma of Kazaliwa and the rest of the family experiencing the painful death of the boy's favourite uncle.  A man who was also probably the favourite amongst all the family and extended families. Looking back on the events years later, Mfanyazaki would wonder whether he had been unwise.  To have regularly taken both Kazaliwa, and, less often, Mzaliwa to visit their Mjomba Maalum.  Knowing that everybody felt his illness was terminal.  That, however, is not something to which any definitive or accurate answers are likely to be found.  As you can never really know what would have been the outcome of something which did not take place; except in the torment of ones imagination or mind. Within a few years, Kazaliwa’s behavioural problems would become worse, with him continuing to get into fights in and outside of school.  There would be the incident when he would do some serious harm to one of his schoo

JUST A THOUGHT - ON NATIONS' RESTRICTION ON THE LENGTH OF TENURE OF THEIR LEADERS. PART 2.

However, considered in the light of the absence of any restrictions on the number of times Senators and House of Representative members can run for office.   And be elected to serve in those capacities, none of these reasons for limiting the Presidential tenure to 8 years make any logical sense.  Which is probably why it remains an anomaly not only in the western hemisphere, but around the world.  Compare the American model with that or Germany or Britain. Where the Chancellor and the Prime Minister can serve 3, 4 or more terms, if their parties are re-elected and support them continuing to lead them? If the American model seems to be redundant in its responsiveness to meeting the changing conditions, circumstances and challenges. Which confront the leadership and governing of countries in the 21st Century, it is probably because it is redundant. So, how did China came to have  a similar model of government, as far as the two presidential tenure limit is concern

JUST A CONTROVERSIAL THOUGHT - ON THE SIGNIFICANCE OF 'MOTHERS DAY' CELEBRATION. THE END!

But that is no great thing, because, such is the nature of human relationships, that it is never perfect.  It does not have to be free of disagreements and conflicts, even though it is expected that.   As much as possible, they should endeavour to remain civil towards one another.  Yes, there will be those cases where a son and/or a daughter will experiencing or be thinking of the terrible things which their dear mother had done to them.   And might not be able to find the spirit of charity or forgiveness in their heart to send mother a Mothers' Day Card. Never mind a bouquet of flowers, a bottle of wine or some nice chocolate.  No, probably not on this Mothers' Day, although things might change on one in the future, if mother is still amongst the living. And yet, for me, and probably for others, the unanswered question is that of, 'why have a Mothers Day' at all? Or a 'Fathers Day'?  What is the point, when mothers have to do what mothers do an

Obstacles and barriers which compromise our ability to embrace the new conditions of the present, in which we find ourselves. But which we must overcome, if we are to willingly contemplate and grasp a shared future of peace and stability.  If we cling rigidly and immovably to our past and our past selves, then we cannot, we will not be able to build a better future which is needed.  After all, why does the immigrant move from one country or land or state of being to another, if it is not that the land and/or state of being in which they find themselves, no longer meet their needs?  Why do the oppressed and exploited, not cling on to their state of being oppressed and exploited, if not to achieve the status of being free from their state of oppression and of being exploited.  And, how can they free themselves, without first freeing themselves of the mind set and the environmental conditions which have given rise to it?  And, we might ask, what is the point o

And so it is, that all 'good, loyal and appreciative' men and women, are today expected to give thanks and praises to their mothers. For having given birth and help to raise them into becoming the men and women that they have become.  For those men and women, boys and girls, who have been blessed in having their dear mothers still being amongst the living.  Today is the day when they can duly demonstrate their appreciation, their adoration for their mother.   By sending her a bunch of flowers, probably a bottle of fine wine, and even an exquisite box of the finest chocolate they can find.  For some, it will be a message on Face Book of any other the other accessible and appropriate social media platforms available to them.  For others it will be a telephone call, just to say, 'dear mother, knowest thou how much I love thee?'  For others, it might even be a cute video phone call, all resplendent with smiles all around. And even the odd or profuse tears,

It has become the norm for the political leaders of countries to set a limit on how long the leaders, such as presidents or prime ministers, can run for and remain in office.  In the 'so-called liberal democracies', which has become the preferred model in the Western hemisphere, and the one which its advocates have consistently tried to force on all the countries of the world.  Of course, in order to allow for the changing of the guards, if you like, the 'liberal-democratic' model or system of government also requires the country to have a 'multi-party political system.'  So that the electorate can have a choice of voting for different parties and leaders.  To some extent this can be seen as a kind of 'consumeristic politics', one which has both positive and negatives.  It provides the electorate with a choice of parties, but it does not guarantee that either the best party will win the election or that the best leader will be ap

The age of greatness, when their people were in control, they believe, and use this knowledged, which might or might not be accurate, as a source of pride.  And yet, how can one compare a past which only now exists in the mind and written and pictorial representation, with a present which you can see, feel, touch, interact with and experience as real? Another example is when some members of an oppressed people, uncritically use the tragic oppression of their ancestors. To support their argument for the present plight of their people, or for their preferred solution to that plight.  Oftentimes not being aware of how they are the product of that particular historical process, and that, to undo it, would be to undo and invalidate their present reality.  All of which might suggest that, it is more often than not better to look forward than backward, to the past.  In dealing with the present and endeavouring to find realistic and constructive solutions for both the prese
