JUST A THOUGHT - ON THE MORAL AND LEGAL DILEMMAS OF ATTACKING ANOTHER COUNTRY ON 'MORAL GROUNDS.' THE END..!

And what of the relatively unreported killings, mutilations and massive displacement of the citizens of countries like the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali and Nigeria?  Do these killings not meet Presidents Macron and Trump's and Prime Minister's May's definition of 'barbarity' and the need for 'humanitarian' intervention?  So, why is there no consultation and rallying of the 'West's Calvery' to intervene'?  Is it because the West, at present, does not have any imminent overriding interests in these countries and their people?  Is it that they do not yet figure highly in the West's current geopolitical plans and strategies for them?  As opposed to Syria and her people, which and whom the West has made into a causus belli? Now, none of this is meant to be an excuse for the horrendous killing, destruction of lives and livelihoods and displacement of people which has, and is still takin

That of, Don't Worry, 'Be Happy.'  Conventional wisdom says funerals ought not to be 'happy events', at least, not for the bereaved loved ones of the deceased.  For the deceased person, however, their funeral is a symbol of their 'ultimate freedom.'  A state in which nothing at all can touch the now depart. So, having been serenaded with the soothing melody of the song, and endeavour to act on its instruction, it was now time to become theistic.  Bowing our heads and, for those of us who were so inclined, respond to the request to recite 'The Lord's Prayer.' Moving on from the TLP, and the recital of a somewhat mystical Poem.  At the end of this poem, which advises the listener not to stare into the sky for the departed 'soul', whom, the poem said will not be there.   As "As I am not there, I did not die", having earlier stipulated on the many natural things and events in which the memory of the departed c

So, as we made our way into the Crematoria for the ceremony, we were regaled with the upbeat and soulful rhythm of Fats Domino's Blue Berry Hill. Some people might see this as 'irreverent' or unorthodox, which it probably was or could be perceived as.  And yet, although it is natural and understandable, even necessary that we should mourn the loss of our loved ones.  How much more should we celebrate their ultimate freedom from all the distress and pain which are and have become the burden of life's journey?  Yes, as Martin Luther King said: 'Free at last', 'Free at last.' This, then, is the ultimate freedom', which all men and women are fated to experience.   And it is one which should be celebrated, more than it should be mourn. Especially since our mourning is, really for ourselves. This was followed by the Officiating official giving a dynamic and short summary of M's life and times amongst the people whom he had shared it with

Thoughts which, at times in their evolution, and dependent on the particular dominant forces in the society or societies giving birth to and/or developing and legitimising them.  Might have been placed under the dominant religious prisms And then we have the 'humanitarian' argument, which postulates that 'moral' governments have 'a right' to intervene into other countries to stop or prevent acts of 'inhumanity' towards other humans.  But, if this is so, how do such governments determine what is 'an act of inhumanity' and when it reaches such a proportion that they should or need to intervene?  What are the thresholds? How do they decide which countries to intervene in and when? What is the mechanism for hearing charges of  'act of inhumanity' and passing judgement? Consider the current conflicts and wars which are taking place in many countries in the world today.  On a daily basis, the Taliban and/or IS is committing murd

Thus there seems to be a preference for high explosive, for guns, missiles, bombs and shells, which can speedily send the victim on the journey to oblivion.  Compared to the slow and agonising death which can arise from being gassed.  However, whatever the method of killing people in wars, wars are Hell, and, if killing people is 'morally wrong', then, one cannot justify making war or attacking another country on 'moral grounds.' Another problem with the 'moral' argument, it that of its probable  link with religion. Which raises questions about the source, legitimacy, authority and relative quality of comparative 'morality.'  For example, with religious gospels tending to cite themselves and their gods or purported supreme entities as the source of their 'morality.'  Such as what is 'good' and what is 'bad', what is 'pure' and what is 'impure', what is a 'desirable state' to pursue, and what i
