It is one of the paradox of contemporary societies, in the developed or more industrially developed countries.  That, from a young age, children, people are being warned to be be wary of 'strangers.'  A warning which comes with the subtext that you should not 'trust strangers', which can also mean, do not talk to them or respond to them, if and when they attempt to initiate talking to you.  The premise behind this latter is that, if people initiate talking to you, it is likely that they want something from you.  No, not something as innocuous as the direction they need to take, to find a given road, or change for a Euro, a dollar or whatever currency applies.  But that they might harm or attempt to do you harm.  All of which reinforces that message that you should keep yourself to yourself, and be suspicious of and vigilant when there are 'strangers.'  People whom we could define as those whom we/you do not know or know well enough to 'tru

It is right and reasonable that the people of Europe and, yes, the United States of America.  Should be seriously concerned about the impact of increasing and, as yet, unregulated 'non-European peoples' migrating to and settling in their countries.  Although, it has to be acknowledged that, the dominant Europeans who have made the US and the Americas their home.   Are not natives or indigenous to those countries, from which the US government intends to remove all so-called 'aliens.' It is understandable that Europeans should be concerned about their 'jobs and employment security.' Germany needs to have a strong and stable government, if it is to provide the strong, principled and prudent leadership which it, Europe and the rest of the world need it to play.  In today's politically highly charged and unstable world. With President Trump's America first policies.  With divisiveness of Trump and Israel increasing the instability in the Middle East.  With the Iran nuclear agreement being undermined by them, and Trump's disregard for climate change, et al, et al. Germany and Europe need Angela Merkel to remain in her post and strong. It is not just a matter of European governments and societies wanting 'strong migration and immigration' policies to 'protect them from their fears of contagion by non-European migrants and immigrants.  Chancellor Merkel, for all her compassion, would probably not see herself 'as being soft on migrants and immigrants.'  It is just that, the movement of peoples all over the glo

It is difficult to see how Angela Merkel giving such a policy the nod, could help her to realise a more compassionate European-wide policy towards non-EU migration and immigration? It would, instead, simply embolden the reactionary approach being taken by the new government in Italy, and place Germany on par with some of the newer EU member states.  Which are clearly fascistic in their attitude and laws regarding non-EU migrants, and in some of their laws towards their own citizens. So, no, it would seem that Angela Merkel signing off on her Interior Minister's plan is a no go.  What are her and her government's options, then? It is ironic that it is a German political party which is called the 'Christian Social Union.'  Which is currently providing a most probably 'unChristian' challenge to Angela Merkel's attempt to prevent Germany blighting its and Europe's future.  With anti-immigrant and migrant policies of fear and hatred.
