Having had white anglo-Saxon men from the elite classes lording it over their fellow Americans and the world for the past 240, since the United States became an independent Union, that country's first African-American President, was seen as its greatest hope - yes, the Black Hope - of moving the country towards a more progressive path; both nationally and internationally. We need the elites to provide our leadership, and we need them to blame for what is wrong and will be wrong with this company, or this country or the world in general. You might also consider that we meet the elite to provide us with our role models. We need them to be the object of our 'envy', of our 'jealousy', and our 'loathing', however founded or unfounded they may be. But, do the elite really deserve the loathing and aspersion which society throw on them? Well, of course some of the elite is deserving of it, such as those for whom selfishness and greed have become second nature. Those who make and maintain their fortunes at the cost of great harm to the environment and/or to their fellow humans. Those who continue to amass great wealth for themselves and their families, and ignore the virtue of spending it to make the lives of their fellow men less precarious.  And those who use their elite status to corruptly acquire power in other spheres
