It is commendable that Five Star Movement wants to purify, to fumigate and cleansed and rejuvinate the Italian political system.  To inoculate it with its 'purist' and, sofar, 'uncontaminated political blood and spirit. All of these things are commendable.  The real test for Five Star, is that of how does it go about effecting this desirable transformation which it wants to wrought in Italy?  Is it going to take the position, or, rather, continue to take the position that it will only talk to and make alliances, both tactical and strategic alliances, with like-minded people, movements and political parties?  If so, how many like-minded people, movements and political parties will it have to work with?  Considering that, like the mafiosa, the Italian Establishment, and probably large sectors of society - not unlike other countries - have become poisoned malignancy of corruption.  Chances are that the majority of Italians are either

Probably one of the most perennial and common quest of all political parties, is their desire to make or transform society into a manifestation of their image.  Just as how 'God' is reputed to have made humans into his own image, so is it the aspiration of the political parties and movements to transform society.   And so it is for the political party which wants to transform society into its own image of what society should be like.  Which takes me to the outcome of Italy's recent national elections, which has seen the 'purist' and 'anti-establishment' party, M5S, the Five Star Movement, polling well, with over 30 per cent of the votes.  An achievement which should place the party or movement, in a better position than it had been under the previous electoral system.  Which has now been changed to include both first past the post and proportional representational elements.  The problem or challenge for the Five Star Movement, is that, ev

There are some calls which nobody should expect to be answered. For example, nobody should expect to tell a dead person to get up, and expect he/she to respond by getting up.  Similarly, nobody should expect to tell t.he Moon to stay still in its orbit, and be surprised that it does not comply with the request.  Neither should anybody expect that they can stop the rain in mid-air, before it impacts on the earth. And what of our or the attempts of others to communicate with god or the gods; the so-called supernatural beings? What about ordinary humans appealing to 'God' for 'sign'?  Probably for a 'sign' that he hears them and understands their pleading? Probably someone asking 'God' to show himself.  Do they really expect 'God' to answer them, and to do so in an unambiguous manner? Immigrants, we can assume, who are not white Europeans, and who 'do not look like us Hungarians.  Yes, of course the Orbanites will also opposed 'enlightened white Europeans' and white European Muslims immigrating to Hungary.  But, in the main, the country's opposition to Europe being 'Islamised', is also a very easily decoded message for ' no black or brown people being admitted.' How can it be that, daily or weekly, ministers, priest and other members of all religious clergies, be they Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, et al.   Solemnly preach their sermons to their followers and bow their heads to their imaginary gods,.  Without being required to provide any evidence of truthfulness, the accuracy of what they are claiming for their religions and for their god? It is back to the polls for the Italians, again, as they make another attempt to help their politicians to form a stable government to govern over them.  And, as they do so, the more astute and concerned among them might well be thinking. What is wrong with Italy and us Italians? Why can we not have a stable and competent government to lead and govern over us?  The French, the Germans and, yes, the Spanish and Portuguese, even, are doing much better than us; notwithstanding the Catalan issue.  But not us, not us Italians; why, are we the accursed of Europe? Have we become too well adjusted to scandals, chaos and complacency and fighting amongst ourselves? Have we become fearful of political stability?
