JUST A THOUGHT- ON WHETHER COVID-19 HAVE FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED HOW WE LIVE OUR LIVES? PART 1.

Image
'At the point of something phenomenally occurring, our thoughts can tend to react with a certain kind of extremity.   Which will become moderated as we gain more knowledge about the event and become better at understanding and managing it.' Covid-19 or Coronavirus has inflicted massive, even catastrophic damage on the intellect and sensibilities of our human species, as well as on our economies.  Quite clearly, the onset of the virus and its impact on us and our way of life, has probably been somewhat similar to the 'Black Death or Plague' of the Middle Ages.  Yes, it has not killed as many of the world's population as the Black Death', but our response to it, to trying to prevent it doing so, has probably been of similar cost to our economical and social functioning. We can imaging our ancestors in the Middle Ages reacting to the catastrophic situation overwhelming them with sickness and death all around them.   With a sense of feeling that the end of the world

'Our happiness and feeling of contentedness is likely to diminish as we advance into our senior years.' Mama, this is not the case; this cannot be so, said I. These are people who I trust; they are people who I have observed looking out for you. Going out of their way to visit you in hospital and expressing their willingness to help you whenever it is necessary for them to do so.  Mama, these are the people who have been your sole carers since the Corvid-19 lockdown.  Have they threatened you Mama? Have they abused you physically or verbally, Mama? No, said she.  Then why are you being the way you are being, Mama? Because them move me things from where me leave them. Because them take away me things.  What things, Mama? Me put me little book in me draw and me can't find it; them take it away.  Mama you might have misplaced your little book; I misplace things as well, Mama. As we get older these things happen. Mama, did you see anybody take away or move your things?  No, but

Which is why for about 2, probably as much as 3 whole weeks, my dear mother has not been complaining to me about the usual nocturnal intrigues.  Could I have been taking things for granted in assuming that that had been the case? Were I negligent in discounting the possibility, the likelihood even, of her complaining to somebody else?  Had my dear mother outsmarted me, by possibly having not complained to me for as long as she could?   Knowing well that I need to be her last resort, as she is not likely to get the response she needs, from me? So, imagine my sense of desperation, of, not again, for crying out loud?  When my dear mother rang me at a time of the night when I would have expected her to be in bed asleep.  Imagine my feeling of wanting to contain myself, of needing to count from 1 to 10 and then from 10 to 0.  In order to maintain my calm and listen to what had caused my dear mother to be ringing me at x hour in the night.   To assail my ears and intellect, to challenge my p

Like the tide of the sea, which when it is energised, has the momentum to reach far onto the shores of the beach, or, in the case of a tsunami, the hinterland.   It does recedes back into the ocean, after its catapulting energy is lost, abated, and it loses its grip and momentum.  So, also, is the true corrective potential of the anti-racism tsunami, fated not to achieve all of its true potential, in, as it were, one fell swoop.  Change, sustainable and deliberate changes engineered by us human, have tended, like evolution, to be gradual.  Taking place and then having to be consolidated, before the next gradual advance is made.  While all the time minimising the opportunities for the enemies of the changes to roll them back. This, then, is the primary reason why, however massive is the retreat and/or defeat of the forces of racism, and significant is the advance of its opposing forces.  This new phase of the struggle is very unlikely to result in the latter winning it over the former.

RELIGION DILEMMAS AND PARADOXES - THE RELEVANCE AND VALUE OF 'GOD' IN OUR LIVES TODAY! PART 4.

Of course, while there will be a concurrence of desire to maintain the 'God company', amongst all of the people taking part in the project.  Their level of commitment and reasons for being involved will differ.  For some it will be a matter of loyalty to, and the prestige from the 'firm', and for others it will be because it is a livelihood.  And yet, for others, it will be because of their fear of the perceived consequences of not remaining loyal.  While for others it will be because of the rewards they believe they will receive at some point.  And for some, it will be because of the peace of mind, the serenity and comfort it provides them with. Essentially, the relevance and value of 'God' can be considered in a number of ways. We can consider the value and relevance of 'God' in the context of trying to find or contrived or ascribed purpose for our lives, for our existence.  Probably the first relevance and value of having and worshipping 'God'

Some will have less commitment and time, and will have their passion extinguished in a short time.  While others will display more commitment and pace themselves, so as to prolong their participation in the struggle.  Some with have too high an expectation of what is going to be achieved and how quickly, and risk becoming frustrated and despondent.  While other will have a more realistic expectation, but still risk becoming disillusioned, and benefit from the injection of the greater but short-lived optimism and euphoria and rage of the sprinters. Some will dive in and out, and some will make of it an active and life-long commitment. But all of them, of us have a crucial role to perform in the struggle against institutional racism. It is in this context that we need to see and evaluate the current, and now seemingly not as intense, but still widespread of popular uprising.   Against the chronic institutionalised racism which is continuing to blight the lives of people of colour, and is
