JUST A THOUGHT - ON HUMAN'S GREATNESS IN TAKING TO THE SKIES WITH MAN-MADE WINGS! PART 1.

Image
It has, on probably many occasions, that, had 'God' intended humans to fly, he would have made them/us with wings, like the birds and the bees, as it were.  Now, it really is the case that there is no proof or evidence that 'God', for those who still believe in him, made the birds and the bees and, indeed, all or any of the other creatures, both great and small, which are capable of flight. Be that as it may, what is great and ingenuous about our human species.  Is the fact that we did not have to wait or rely on 'God' equipping us with wings, like, some might say, the mythical angels, for us to be able to escape and even confound gravity.  No; with our genius seemingly knowing little or no bounds, over the generations and the centuries, we have invented and develop the means to launch ourselves from the good Earth into and beyond the clouds and the skies.  Not only is our human ingenuity capable of enabling us to somewhat dominate the near- Earth's atmosp

TAKING A FLIGHT OVER CANADA!

So, there comes a time when us humans have to confront any degree of fear we have, and put submit ourselves to situations and journeys which we believe carry more risk than, say, taking a car ride.  Travelling in an aeroplane might be considered to be one of those situations and journeys. So, here goes, although this video is only a short one.

JUST A THOUGHT ON THE SECRETARY GENERAL'S MISSED OPPORTUNITY.

So, considering how the current Secretary General has missed the grand opportunity to put the case for the continuation of the ' Commonwealth of nations', at the recent funeral of the late British Queen, has seen not been guilty of a gross dereliction of her duty to that organisation 🤔 It am of the firm opinion that was, and probably still is. I mean, considering that many member nations of the Commonwealth are currently thinking of whether their best interests are still predicated upon them remaining in the organisation, or in them leaving it and pursuing different paths.  The Secretary General could not have asked for a better opportunity than the funeral of the late Monarch to make a concise but powerful statement to the world, about the continuing relevance of the Commonwealth, and why the Monarchy should continue to support it.  Unless, of course, the Secretary General, a) does not believe that it continues relevant, or b) she is being negligently complacent. Both of wh

JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - THE STRANGE FAMILIARITY OF DEATH!

And so it is that, as the elaborate and regal arrangements were being completed for the burial of most probably the longest reigning Monarch in at least modern times.  Following the death of HRH, Queen Elizabeth, did I find myself reflecting and contemplating on strange familiarity of this thing or state called death. How, I ask myself, can us humans be consistently taken so low, by its, death's reoccurrence, when it is so common, so certain and so inevitable 🤔.  How, when we cannot ever experience or reflect on the death of others, be they close or far from us, in proximity or degrees of relationship, without pondering our own pending and inescapable demise, or that oof our loved ones🤔 Why, we could or might ask ourselves, are or should we be so disheartened, when we know only too well that this thing, death, is a fate, a state which we must all endure as a necessary and unavoidable consequence of having attained this thing called life🤔 Should we not have or be developing a c

JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - THE COST OF ATTAINING LIFE AND GROWING OLDER. FINIS.

To think of and to see ourselves as a duality, as we might speak of 'your body' or 'my body.' Which suggests that there is a separate 'you' and 'me' to whom the 'physical body' we carry around, or which carries us around, 'belongs.'  Yes, part of the cost of attaining 'Ergo-sumness' is that we humans acquire and accumulate and form attachments form with things, both organic and inorganic.  Things which then becomes a part of us, psychologically and emotionally, if not physically. And herein lies the paradox; the fact that we must lose, be separated from all our perceived 'gains.'  Such it is that, as we travel through life, depending on how far we have travelled on our way towards our inevitable demise, our personal extinction.  We will have become separated from and lose some of the 'things' we have 'gained' along the way.  Until we get to the point of losing, but not becoming separated from ourselves, a

THE MOON GOD MORE CLEARLY SEEN.

Image
Like the Sun, the Moon is of immense value to our life on Earth, as without them and no viable alternative life preservers, life as we know it, would not and probably could not exist.  And so it is that, if humanity were to be rational and logical us contemporary humans, and continue to feel a need for 'Gods.'  We would certainly not be worshipping the god/s and prophets of the Abrahamic religions. But, instead, like some or most of our ancestors, we would worship The Moon, and The Sun.  Indeed, we might also worship the water we us and the air we breathe.  And so it is that, when we look up and behold the Moon and the Sun, might we say, 'Thank you' to both for keeping us alive with their blessings.

JUST PHILOSOPHISING ON - THE COST OF ATTAINING LIFE AND GROWING OLDER. PART 1.

Image
So, what, if anything, does it cost for us, if we are fortunate or unfortunate, as the case might be, to live beyond our childhood years and keep growing older?  Is it a blessing or a curse, or, were we to take a more objective approach, both, for us to keep going until we reach the point of the unrelenting gravitational pull of the unescapable Abyss before us? When we are but babies and very young children, there are two paths before us.  There is the path of the higher risk of an early death, as we might succumb to the various diseases to which we, by virtue of our infancy, might contract.  And there is the chance of us living to attain adulthood and realising or not realising the dreams and aspirations of our parents and ourselves.  But now that we are old and getting older, there is but only one path which lies before us; the path of dying, of expiring and ending our life's-journey. As a landlord might 'call time' before the appointed hour for which the law stipulates
